What has really changed in the last few years is the media. It is now easier than ever to put together a slick presentation and bamboozle a science-dumb populace.

It's a laugh that the "Universities" are unbiased. Where do you think they're getting their money? What do you think they are now using as their biggest science issue to leverage desperately for more money.

The corporations are made up of people you know. I always wanted to make a T-shirt witha picture of an elephant blowing brown water out of his trunk, with a little bucket in front of him- with the slogan "Republicans for Dirty Water".

The straw man arguments that republicans, conservatives, corporations, businessmen, whatever- hate the environment and want to dash it off, or just don't care- it's absurd.

These people all have families and children too. I haven't met any Republicans that breath pudding, so I assume they are all for clean air as well.

The best thing for industrial pollution is private proporty rights. My understanding is that the state of the Thames before and after assigning private property rights is a night and day difference. Perhaps a local can shed some light on that?

A lot of industrial stupidity happened for years because NO ONE knew any better. Now technologies consistently get cleaner. You also have to remember that everything is a matter of trade-offs.

I'm all for switching 100% of our power needs to nuclear energy. That would put the middle east shitheads in a pickle. Of course it would fuck the Canadians worse, and I like them most of the time.

One other thing that will help battle the corporation dragon is more competition. If you really think corps suck, you should be all for competitive market entry. The biggest obstacle to competition in markets are government laws and regulations that make it easy for monopolies to exist, and hard for little guys t get started.

As usual, the government is the problem.

Shifting gears:
Did you know the Chinese are now making a killing producing CFC's? Since they've been banned, there is a block-headed British program to buy and shut down CFC factories.

The Chinese are biulding the factories, then the Brits come in and pay them more than it cost to build it and then shut it down. The Chinese then move 100 yards down the road and build another one.

should i be doing more short-times creating great heat for a lesser period of time, or more long-times, creating a relatively lower degree of heat, but for a longer time?

That does not mean you cannot have lots of snow for a short period.

Although the planet on average is getting hotter every year, some parts of Northern Europe may go the other way, although the planet will on the whole still be warming.

This is due to the Gulf stream, which brings the warm air to N Europe, diminishing due to the effect of the salinity of the water declining as the ice melts.

This would kick in around 20 years time.

I'm sure Global warming is very real & what the real solutions are who knows,.... BUT in the UK it will be used as an excuse to increase revenue by introducing punative taxes on anything Gordon Brown can dream up that might just about pass as a green tax to try & raise revenue to sort out the complete mess he has made of the economy. The one thing you can garantee the funds raised will go to anything but the enviroment.

These are the two central points, and I have yet to see anyone actually present any evidence that either is true.

1. The world is warming fast.
The best evidence anyone has presented is that the earths average temperature MAY be 1 degree higher than 100 years ago. That's an increase in 0.01 degree a year over a century.
Is this "warming fast". I'm glad these scientists did not design my new microwave.

2. Human's are to blame. Still no evidence that shows this. I'm not talking about "proving beyond a shadow of a doubt". I'm saying there has been zero evidence put forward that even bolsters the predictions of their own global warming theory.
The only actual measured evidence is the exact opposite of what global warming theory predicts, i.e. the earths surface has warmed (by 1 degree) before the atmosphere - exactly the opposite of what global warming theory says.

Next week there will be reports that 1200 scientists agree. Then 240000 scientists agree. *I DON'T CARE*

Scientists also agreed that the earth was the center of the cosmos, that the earth was flat, that the body is controlled by four "humours" and healing required a good blootletting by the local barbor, that you must cover your yawn to prevent demons from flying in, and as recently as the 30's and 40's that eugenics was a great idea.

Some scientists "agree" about every different opinion about ladyboys, some saying that they are just mentally defective and can be "cured".

I just want to see the EVIDENCE.

You cant see the evidence, because its not there, YET.

These tests and experiments that are happening in Antarctica are not giving the results they are expecting, that as ice is melting in certain parts, it is forming in others, sea levels and temperatures are not rising, and most of the warming is in cities is due to urbanization and not global factors.

as Grunyen says, we need to see the real data, not forecasts and models.

Well i give you the evidence, the report is about a million pages long and was WATERD down by the Chinese and the Saudis. Its actually a lot worse than the report states.

What more do you guys want!.

NASA have recently announced that the ice breaking up is far worse that in previous times due to the fact that the melting is causing fractures in which the water cascades to through the ice and speeds up the melting

The report is the best explanation that we have as to why the earth is warming. There are a few faults as is admitted but its still the best evidence there is.
