I live in the United States of the Offended. One of the "hard facts of life" I learned after retiring from the military (where "respect" is drilled constantly into one's brain) is that NOBODY respects NOBODY in the USA (oooppssss USO).

People from all walks of life (from the lowly McD's to those with "higher education") looks down upon and acts "superior" to others.

When I go through a drive through (or just dealing with people in general) I am prone to say, "Thank you - thank you." When asked why I say, I figure someone shorted them a thank you. More often than not I don't even get a "You're welcome back" and in the case of drive throughs have literally had my order thrown at me (and I am visibly armed).

When dealing with "professionals" (I am an armed courier) I often get the "masta" air of superiority from them (unbelievably true when dealing with nurses at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

During the course of a normal day I meet a lot of "nice" people who are outwardly polite. I also meet a lot of assholes who are alive only because its illegal to challenge them to a dual in this country

I apologize for duplicating some of the following. I had to reformat my PC a couple of weekends ago and am having keyboard problems €“ somehow the SEND button was hit before I intended it to and before I was able to finish/spell check the response sent).

      Anyway -----

I live in the United States of the Offended. One of the "hard facts of life" I learned after retiring from the military (where "respect" is drilled constantly into one's brain) is that NOBODY respects ANYBODY in the USA (oooppssss USO).

People from all walks of life (from the lowly McD's cashier to those with "higher education") look down upon and act "superior" to others (often without even realizing the backgrounds of those they are dealing with).

When I go through a drive through (or just dealing with people in general) I am prone to say, "Thank you - thank you." When asked why I say this, I reply that I figure someone shorted them a thank you and am making up for it. More often than not I don't even get a "You're welcome back" and in the case of drive throughs have literally had my order thrown at me (and I am visibly armed) by the cashiers.

When dealing with "professionals" I often get the "masta" air of superiority from them (unbelievably true when dealing with nurses at Vanderbilt Medical Center).

During the course of a normal day I meet a lot of "nice" people who are outwardly polite. I also meet a lot of assholes who are alive only because its illegal to challenge them to a dual in this country. I am retired military. I spent 20 years in Special Forces. I have degrees in Police Science, Management and Sociology. I have been to 18 different countries (shot at in 6 - got laid in 17). I have a state government and civilian corrections/security background. I have extradited prisoners from/to nearly every state in this country. I am a certified firearms instructor. I currently work as an armed courier and routinely carry liability exceeding $1,000,000. I made $70,000 last year (which is a lot more than some of the snob managers I deal with in some of the businesses I go to who think their shit don€™t stink just because they are managers - would love to see them manage a foreign indigenous force in a counter-insurgency role).

End result, I tend to find myself not socializing with the general public. I tend to be "hot" most of the time (i.e. having a weapon in my possession and expecting to use it). I cheer whenever I read about some scumbag cop or baby killer getting the needle. I curse the judges and politicians who interfere with the execution of some scumbag cop or baby killer (TN just executed one who killed a cop in 1981). I at times feel like a fool for having served this country but at times feel that having done so makes me better than does who look down upon me.

In short, I really don€™t like people that much anymore. All to often I see some "superior" acting genius treating others (not knowing their situation/background/etc) like a toad while they themselves do some of the dumbest shit you can ever imagine.

I still approach people in a pleasant manner and keep my manner pleasant as long as I am being pleasantly treated. Likewise, I approach assholes as aggressively as the situation warrants.

Oh well, such is life in the United States of the Offended.

This type of attitude is what is destroying our earth, the world nation, our only home.

As an American, it is probably difficult for you to turn the other cheek when someone upsets you! But Americans should try to care how the very idea of America is offensive to most members of the United Nations.

If you were more like the average Canadian man, you might find yourself better liked when you vacation in Europe! You would probably also be more at peace with those who legitimately dislike you (for being a yankee, an imperialist and an affront to the nonaligned peoples).

Suggestion: try watching some Michael Moore DVDs this weekend to help yourself to develop a stronger social conscience. Read some old Cindy Sheehan or Fidel Castro speeches to try to understand why anti-Americanism is the fault of the Americans.

propaganda crap on moore the other i know but can't make a informed statement on except castro and if you have seen his supposed utopia you would not think to highly of him.

sf1b4  for serving the country i respect you for the years and crap and things you did around the world. for all the people who will never know or understand that type of work the man deserves the respect. this is coming from a man that has had family serve in most military branchs in most all of the wars except the ones in iraq. civillians will never fully know what you all go through.

i to come across a lot of people in my work and life that should not be walking this earth and wish laws where such that i could send them to there resting places. in june i get to do just that to a rapist in a court of law. i wish it was in a dojo, but i will have to accept this way.

respect people until they show you otherwise that they don't deserve it. the majority of people don't. maybe because i am a grumpy ass that generally thinks very little of most people after a few minutes.

            peace

It's very difficult to understand how some of you posters think hating everyone is the right way forward as an individual or for a nation. It can obviously only result in one thing...mutual hatred. Now that I know more of what some of you think, it will make me think twice when I meet you, because how can I feel comfortable with someone who basically hates everyone he's meeting, likely including me, and perhaps is being two-faced during our meeting (and maybe is 'hot')?

As for respecting LBs specifically, we all know they are not in the career of their dreams, likely didn't have a childhood of their dreams, and despite all that, the vast majority seem to be pretty nice. Their only common downfall is the unending desire for money and lying blatantly to get it. But if you understand that, I'd say generally, they are nice, and that deserves at least decent treatment. I don't know if you call that respect or something else.

It may be that we use the word respect to loosely, or maybe just me. I think in my previous post I was thinking 'treat people decently and don't judge them', whereas, if I think about it more, respect is really for a small group of people are above many others, and that I agree needs to be earned over a long period of time.

This was perhaps a bad thread to start as how are will we face each other after this?

the majority of the people i come across in my work life are to the cream of the crop. more likely the dregs of humanity. a vast majority or criminals of some sort or ex cons. plus to top it off most are alcholics and drug addicts of some sort. should i really respect any of these people?? granted i do come across a small few that give me hope for humans. if this small precentage can be decent people after all that has happened to them. then i do see some hope. but they are few and far between.

right now am in phoenix and i can look out my windo and see 30 of the uglist hookers walking out front with there pimps pushing them to customers. hell i even think one of the women is pregant. they get in and out of customers cars with out washing between. it has to be one of the most disgusting things i have ever seen in all my travels. i really do not have the words to describe what is going on out there. these are the types of people i was refering to not respecting. i always seem to be around a lot of theis crap in the states.

If we ever meet the beers are ALL on me...

Sangabrial is either having a joke with us or is seriously gay.

Damn - I thought I was gonna get slaughtered on this thread and it turns out there are more people like me than I thought. It gladdens my heart that there are still real men out there...

Fuck the fags that hate America... People hate America because their own countries suck ass and they don't have the spine to get their shit together and get it sorted.

If you cry at the movies or eat organic food or donate to charity then you ain't a real man.

I too served in the military (in two combat zones) and at the time I thought I was doing the right thing. If I had known the world would turn into muslim loving fags I would noty have bothered.

I am an aspiring Canadian, so let me be perfectly offended about this...

I just love to get with my girlfriends, put on a feather boa and start belting out Aretha Franklin "R-E-S-P-E-C-T, find out what it means to me!"

In fact, I cry at the movies, and I eat organic food sometimes, and I am not gay. Period.

As for the circumcised Muslim LB whom I have met in bars, they are never distasteful to me! In fact, I suck cocks, and I get fucked sometimes...

OH WELL! I won't try to deny the obvious!

I don't pack heat but I have to admit that is the beauty of the Second Amendment. It makes everyone think twice about how they are going to treat a person; in particular, it makes criminals think twice before targeting someone, because no one ever knows who is armed. If there were more concealed weapons holders, there would be many fewer violent crimes.

Not even your country admits that it acts against the muslims. They say they fight terrorism or Weapons of Mass Destruction.

You let your racism slip out faggot, and you are not even intelligent enough to understand that the "muslims" you are on about, that is the terrorists, are people like you who don`t have enough brains to understand that you cannot punish thousands for the actions of 1.

So terrorists & hawkish yankies GO SUICIDE ALONE AND FUCK OFF THIS PLANET
