  • Jet Lag

Back 9 days and still suffering from jet lag. Left Bangkok on the 16th at 1200 arrived LAX around 1500 got thru customs and down to Southwest Airlines and was informed your flight will be a little late, a little late bacame 2 hours.
Left LAX at 1900 and arrived home at 2100. Went home took a shower and grabbed a bit to eat. Kind of decompressed a bit and then off to work at 2300. I work rotating shifts and the mid-night shift was up upon return.
Part of the problem was the immediate return to mid-night shift.
How do you guys deal with Jet Lag any thing that works for you. There is a lot of advice out there from so called experts but it all seems to be more hype than any thing else.

Not being silly but what I did was........
1  Sleep every chance I had
2  Get Laid a time or two during the week
3  Eat lightly and drink lightly
Took about 5-6 days to get back in the swing of things

      Wish I knew the cure...

I've been home since the 13th and I'm still on LOS time...

The only sure cure I know of is to go back to Thailand...

Look for some Po Chai pills in Chinatown. I was introduced to them in China and have used them ever since on long flights. You can easily get them in any medicinal store. Just ask and say that you need them for jet lag. The ladies behind the counter looked at me strange and I told them that I worked in Shanghai (true) for a period of time.

Take one with a glass of water when you get back in the States and you should be fine.

For me, adjustment starts the night before I get on the flight. Say it leaves in the daytime, it means I need to sleep on the first segment. Thus all I need to do is get up real early so I am sleep deprived--then it is a piece of cake to have a nap on the plane when the time comes. That sets you up to then stay awake better for the next stint. This sets the tone for the adjustment.

On the plane, get comfortable. The little things make a big difference. A window seat so no one getting up disturbs my sleep and I can rest in a slightly more comfortable way, blinder to slip over the eyes for complete darkness.

Upon arrival, the most effective thing to me is keep myself occupied that first day. That means I don't have time for my body to feel tired because it is busy doing other things.

Such refinements I have made over the years have let to very impresive results. Last time I went state side I had no jet lag at all after getting off the plane! That was a first and hopefully repeatable.

I sleep two or three times a day so jet lag doesn't often get to me. Occasioonally I get it though and have to sleep for hours and hours before I'm any good for anything.

I dunno much about it but I'm guessing that jet lag affects you more if you live or prefer a normal routine type of live.

I am very lucky, after so many years of travelling it barely has an effect anymore. But I can sleep on a clothes line so I just sleep for most of the long haul stuff.

I work a day schedule. Thai airways flights gets me home a little before work so i go into work, take a nap by the pool at the gym, asking the lifeguard to wake me up if i oversleep, then go right home afterwork, jerk off and sleep the whole night.

What works best for me though is if I fly to Singapore the night before and get a good nights sleep. Then stay up for the whole 17 hour flight on Sing Air watching movies, playing online chess, learning Thai, by the time i get home around 7PM my time I'm ready for sleep and fine the next day.

But I can't afford to fly Sing but use my Star Alliance miles for free flights.

Everybody is different. With my work sch. rotating shifts I am kind of jet lagged all of the time anyway. It's like I'am always going to Bangkok but only get there 2 times a year.

I used to fly back and forth between North America and Asia several times a year. I'm a big guy and have great difficulty sleeping on a plane unless I'm in business class.

I think the most important thing to do is to not allow yourself to fall asleep too soon after you arrive. Have a shower, massage, get something to eat, blowjob...anything to avoid sleeping before the appropriate time in your new location. This speeds up the whole adjustment process and you'll be fine in a couple of days.

Also, dont drink too much (alcohol I mean) on the flight. Do drink plenty of water though...and of course drink plenty of beer on your first night in town

I assume you would like some tried and true advice on flying Eastbound from Thailand. First off, no alcohol before, during or after the flight. Do not eat any of the high fat content food they serve on the airplane. Stick to the fruit or better yet order a veggie meal when you book your ticket. Drink a ton of water, so what if you have to piss a lot? Avoid all caffine drinks. Lastly, get some sleeping pills and take one about two hours into the flight. When you get back, take a sleeping pill at your normal bedtime for no more than three days, that is important. Go back to your normal routine right away. Like I said, tried and true and now I never worry about jet lag.
