Thailand has plans to ruin paradise as usual.
The government is trying to promote the idea of a "Thailand Riviera" which would be the 4 provinces from Cha Am south.

The Master Plan shows that the four provinces have diverse tourism assets, as follows:- 25 national parks and water parks;
- 528 Kms of coastline;
- 37 beaches, 10 bays, and 25 islands;
- 70 Royal Projects and Royal Initiatives;
- 6 community-based tourism projects.
Man-made attractions include several golf courses, theme parks, numerous community malls/outlets and a variety of Sports Tourism facilities for triathlons, marathons, swimming, biking, mountain climbing and canoeing.
Hua Hin, the best known beach resort in the region, also holds an annual Jazz Festival, alongside a boundless choice of culinary fare and gastronomic delights.
There is also more than adequate transportation access:- Land: Highway No. 4 (Phetchkasem Road);
- Sea: Ferry Service linking Khao Takiap pier in Prachuap Khiri Khan and Bali Hai Pier, Chon Buri.
- Air: Hua Hin Airport, Chumphon Airport, and Ranong Airport.
- Railway: Southern route.
I'm not sure if super cheap beach vacations won't be all sucked up by Chinese visitors.
Russians seem to have stopped visiting Thailand in droves like a few years ago.
Other western and european countries are not sending the volumes they used to but more are coming from Asian countries like China.
Western travellers are the gravy for Thailand, not closer places like India and China. Indians don't like to spend money and don't often book on tours to Thailan.
The problem is Most Thais don't like Chinese or Indian tourists and many other tourists don't like places that are over run with them.
Have you ever been shopping or in some restaurant when Chinese tour buses pull up.....they seem to be the only ones using tourist buses in Thailand.
These tours stop at attractions and as many Chinese owned business in Thailand as possible. They get on and off the buses and rarely spend money on extras.
It's not the Chinese tourists fault, China makes them all this way.
If they expand the Hua Hin airport it will all be over...get there soon.

So this is what I meant. Concrete destroys every single piece of paradise.
Regarding Chinese tourists, I try not to be racist. I used to work with Taiwanese companies a long time ago. I have to admit they're changing the deal in Asian tourism. I am now posting from beach city that used to be the Russian Phuket. Here, Russians come with their family, don't get drunk and behave correctly. They keep a pressure on fairly prices. Here, foreigners were Russians so that menus were written in Vietnamese, Russian then English. This year, the third language has become Chinese. In boat trips, they separate Asian and European people. I am not racist but I fear that Chinese are. In a couple of restaurants, menus are written in Chinese only. It's weird. Local people won't talk to you unless you are Chinese.
2 miles away from the main attraction parc, they built huge house that is actually a casino. I understand your concern with Chinese tourists.

I am not being racist at all, I am talking factually about the truth of what Chinese are like.
Also i am not talking about all Chinese people just, in general, people that are from from China.
It is not their race, it is the country they come from.
People that are from China behave like they have been taught to be obedient, orderly, frugal and secretive.
I do not believe the way they behave is culture anymore, it is brainwashing.
Everywhere in the world they do not integrate, they generally take what they want and separate themselves from others.
No where do Chinese businesses intermingle with other businesses, they are always concentrated in one area.
They don't often complain but they almost never join in with what others are doing other than education and these sorts of things.
if they can have the whole thing to themselves, they will prefer that.
Chinese have been setting themselves up to take over the world about 2050.
They have planted the seeds in almost everywhere in the world.
Billions of people with pockets full of money is just as dangerous as if they had pockets full of bullets.
You are correct they do keep the prices down but they will also end up driving western visitors away over time.
Westerners spend more money per person but will get crowded out by the Chinese over time.
Chinese don't go to bars and they only go to Chinese approved restaurants in all inclusive tours that they get very cheap.
Many Thais don't like them because they buy cheap tours, stay and eat in approved Chinese properties, don't buy any souvenirs, don't tip and generally are cheap.
I won't get into personal habits......
The powers in Thailand are scared to death of Chinese influence.
Over time I think China will overwhelm Thailand as western influence subsides.
If you grew up in China you are obedient to them, for the most part.
Thailand will never learn until they have paved and laid concrete over the whole thing.
The push for more tourists will ultimately bring them less money in the long run I fear.

Your not racist Crag you like Chinese like Don Cherry likes "those people"
Kidding aside I dated a Chinese girl for 6 yrs visited her family in China spent a lot of time around them and overtime grow a strong dislike for them culturally and I'm talking mainland mandarin speaking Chinese not Hong Kongnese or Cantonese Canadian Chinese but Chinese from the mainland as my Aussie buddy says have no couth which I would say they are uncouth either way they are ill mannered bordering on just plain ignorant people or at least the over 40 something men are, i guess over there if you give a shit how anybody else feels you'll get trampled by the herd so it's survival of the fittest, now the younger generation and women are at least inquisitive and polite but very few integrate into western society well so needless to say that will be my last chinese gf, they are such a contrast from the Thais it's hard to believe their countries are so close.
Getting back to the topic of Thailands tourist initiatives I don't see the word Casino or at least spelt out just "Royal initiatives" cause we know the new King lives abroad and has a pertinent for gambling which for the average rich Joe isn't a problem but to be King of Thailand we must hope he respects his fathers wishes and Thailand never goes down that path or paradise will be lost and King Rama 9 will be rolling over in his grave!

Thailand needs gambling and legal weed to compete in the new world order.
It was only a matter of time until Don Cherry got cancelled by the woke culture.

He's one of the biggest celebrities in the hockey world was fired from a Canadian broadcasting network after 38 years for saying more immigrants should wear poppies on remembrance day.
I created a thread about him here:
So the cancel culture got Canadian Hockey Legend Don Cherry. 85 year old Cherry made comment scolding people for not wearing poppies. While he didn't spell it out most assumed he was speaking about immigrants. He has been a host on Hockey Night in Canada on the CBC network for 38 years and has said many things more

It is true that Thailand has shifted their focus on Asian tourists - particularly Chinese, but also Indian, as the declining numbers of Western and Russian tourists have been affecting the industry. However, this is a false equivalency as Chinese tourists spend much less than Western tourists, and while Indian tourists spend a bit more than Chinese, it still doesn't approach the level that Western tourists used to spend.
As for casinos, there are rumors there will be one built along the Chao Praya River where a historic church once stood. However, that will not necessarily draw tourists, but will definitely draw the locals, as the gambling bug is strong in Thailand.

Yes most of the other Asian countries are cheapskates except for the Japanese.
However almost every westerner will spend all the money they have or have budgeted no matter what, usually even more.
Pound for pound westerners are the best tourists.
This is why Thais tend to prefer white foreigners because if they are not from Russia, they are western usually and good spenders.
That is the advantage of being white in Thailand is that is what they all strive to be, and their whole caste system is partly based on this.
Ads for whitening skin lotions are everywhere.
So white skin is right at the top of their hierarchy, it is a bit racist or whatever but it is what it is.
Western and Europeans controlled Thailand for years which also feeds their adoration of us.
As a white guy always represented money and prosperity to them and in the old days all westerners were white.
Now westerners of all races go there but not initially get the same treatment, until their country of origin is known.
