... I worked there for 3 years in the '70's & never heard them called "billyboys" but i did hear them refered to as "ladyboys" by the locals, but back then i had no intrest in them at all, just thought it was a word they used for "gays", not actual shemales..

You will never hear the term ladyboy used by local Filipinos...it is either the tagalog term "bakla" or "billyboy". Bakla actually is slang for gay.
