I have always posted pretty big pics here, like 900x600, those are all the recent Candy photos

they seem to still go through OK.....so before I could have posted photos TWICE this size? yikes

Yeah but those pics are only max 140Kb or so JD so not near the size limit.

That's exactly what happened! (God I'm a dummy sometimes!)  

For members the upload file size is 200 KBs... for JaidDee and myself it is 500 KB.

JaiDee asked me a few months ago to up the size for him.

No-one has ever posted a picture bigger than 200 KBs on this forum, not even you!

If we started letting people load the site with 500KB images it would slow the forum down to an impossibly slow crawl for all of us even those on Broadband.

Not to mention the effects it would have on bandwidth costs.

Don't forget that every picture uploaded to the forum slows it down and every picture linked here from outside the forum has to be loaded on to some poor sods browser cache.

Also; pictures are automatically resized (dimensionwise at least) to fit onto the page of the forum so posting images larger than about 60 or 70 KBs is just a waste of time.

Even if you posted a massive image it would be resized to fit the page but still be a large file size. Thus frustrating readers even more.

Image loads on forums is the single biggest bandwidth cost for providers. that's why so many forums don't even allow you to do it, or severely limit the size of the pics that you are allowed to post.
