Yes, sure I'm sure, I have an ex-coworker who retired there in 2006, no visa runs, but he does have to get it extended by getting his passport stamped with an 59-day extension and it takes 3000 pesos ($60) approximately the last time I asked which was 4 months ago. He has never left Philippines as far as I know after 2006 and he had no retirement portfolio.. basically lives off social security and managing to feed and put a shelter over himself, his wife, and 2 kids and a maid. But the times I visited there, he was doing good.

If you already have or can get the retirement visa in los, why bother moving? It doesn't make any sense since you're set there. But for someone under 50, who is tired of doing visa runs, thailand would be playing the game hard mode and philippines would be easier.

One reason to consider the PI over LOS is exchange rate. The difference is like 50% better in PI. Right now, it is 29 to 1 here and falling. In the PI it is over 43 to 1. Doesn't that mean if you exchange the same amount of dollars in either place, you will have 50% more pesos than baht to live on? The only things I found more expensive in PI, are drugs/pharmaceuticals, and visas. Nutritional supplements are higher in PI too. Other than that everything seemed to cost same or less in pesos, than it costs in baht here.

.....even as i'm a newbee on the phills and there a lot of different opinoins about the visa and work permits.......i stay there 2x 3weeks, heading back to bkk end of the month...for 2 day's in Nana, and return to the phills for 3 weeks more in november.....

...for a longer stay i will contact the embasy in Aiustra and make my visa there then...

btw, yesterday was "Gay-parade" in angeles.......saw arond 200-300 lb's.....oh my god.....

Juri can you please add nice places to stay and where to find them? I would appreciate it as Angeles is 1 place I've never been to!

And visas might be different for different nationalities. I can only comment on the American visa process.

.....hmmm, i think with my 2 weeks now i'm far an expert who can give some helprich hints.......

but just for the locations......in Makati i stay in the "oxford suites" Hotel, it's a 4* Hoter in middle of the red-light area...all in walking distance, the mixxed-nuts lb bar too....

and in Angeles in the "Clarkton-Hotel"..a bit outside venus, but with a Jeep (the phill version of baht-bus) u pay 7.-peso for a ride....

both hotels are 100% lb-friendly (i'fe been told that in angeles now many hotels banned lb's now), you can have guests as many u like....and all make a recall before give leave...

that's just about the locations i know.....think it's less than a flash from Phills..

....even it's a trip info too...i found 2 gay/ladyboy bars here, in opossite to thay, thats are no gogo-bars, and the boys sit decent in the back if they realise that u just interessted in lb...........in Vanidoso, name of the bar close to Clercton Hotel, one of they is a realy stunner, perfect voice for karaoke and later at show she makes 3 flik-flak (salto in serie) on stage............what a doll....

the other bar named "big guy's" is in a road second to frields, where mostly phiil-bar located, it look's a little shabby, but they have anice show too, mixed boy & lb and some girl there worth a look..and some worth for run awy.....

..the first order is ever 160pso (120 bht) but u get every drink doble for....so u have two beer on tabale than (same some happy hour in soi 7)...
