No but it would affect you if guys stopped coming to Thailand and subsequently decided there was no point joining this site.
Ladyboys as far as most guys who visit Thailand for holidays and not live there are intertwined with the bars and nightlife. If the bars such as Casa and Obsession shut down then I'd say the whole of this site would be affected, I joined this site principally because I like to see real people in videos and photoshoots and not some fantasy thing.
You may personally think it won't affect you but there might be a lot of repercussions for many falangs who live in Thailand not to say how the new visa rules will affect them. So before you make your couldn't care less statement you might like to think a bit more.

This is a forum so i will speak my mind

For me Midnight is an absolute piss take, in my trips to Thailand there has not been one evening where i have been tucked up b4 3am.....This is just me i tend to do what i do in the day time come back for a nap around 7pm sleep till around 9-930 latest i wont leave my accomadation till earliest 10pm...9pm at a push if its a real special occasion, i pay pick up and go for a short time but i shower and hit the road again, i tend to drink or party till the early hours alone with friends or a date then wen the club finishes at 2, take phuket id head to safari when that finishes id hit the bars and one pool hall that stays open till late or sit with a street vendor. Pattaya ive been known to stay up till 7-8am in Hot tuna or a bar ojn one of the Sois, thats just me. Im no differnt here in london, if i go out out ill hit the pub, then the bars then a club then eat food then go home. Midnite is just as my engine is warming up....some may agree or disagree...id like to hear some points of views arguments etc myself....

      cheers

        TAKEN FROM THAI VISA

Spoke with a very high government official yesterday. He stated that it€™s all in Khun Thaksin€™s hands now. Some shocking comments such as paragraph 3 or 4 that I was not aware of. Only because who this person is, is why I€™m repeating it because otherwise I look rather foolish, if something else happens:-) Please remember I€™m just repeating what I heard, these are not my opinions or do I necessary agree with every word of the reasoning. Here is his take€¦

        On March 1st..

        1. Khun Thaksin could declare that its 2. a.m or even 1 a.m. for everyone. In his opinion 70% chance of that happening. If he does this, expect also the statement that€ no NEW entertainment licenses can or will be issued outside the zones.€ Khun Thaksin definitely does not want any new places springing up outside the zones.
        2. Khun Thaksin could declare midnight for businesses outside the zone and 1. a.m and 2 a.m in the zones as is proposed now. 30% chance for this.
        3. TKhun Thaksin however can NOT change the zones or add zones. This has already been proclaimed by the King a long time ago and would take six months minimum to add more.
        4. The zones themselves can be changed to 3 a.m or even 6 a.m. if the local government such as Pattaya wants longer hours for their zones.
        5. The new entertainment law is modern. The previous was written 50 years ago and had many gray areas. This is black and white and should have no police corruption. It€™s positive for the businessman as he knows the laws and can follow them.
        6. The reason for the zones is so they can control everything. It may look having RCA in the zone is not proper if they are concerned about teenagers welfare but they can keep a eye on them at least here rather than having them spread out through the city. They expect older Thai people will start going to RCA as well and this will help change the atmosphere.
        7. If the zoning goes through, expect the properties to skyrocket upwards around the zone. They expect the outer areas of Bangkok to die off in the next three years. More and more people will be attracted to living in areas around the zones.
        8. If the zoning goes thru, they expect a minimum of two million people to be effected in the pocketbook and large protests as a result. €œIt will be a zoo€ No matter how large the protest, don€™t expect Khun Thaksin to back down like other PM€s in the past. However keep in mind that the government term is ending and their will soon be a new election. On a sidenote heard of a large protest on Friday the 27th being planned.
        9. A pub can be open at 6 p.m in the zone and close at 1 a.m. A disco in the zone can open at 9 p.m in the zone and close at 2 a.m.
        10. Outside the zone, a disco can be open from 9 p.m to midnight and a pub from 6 p.m. to midnight.

As I stated before many times - and I think you cant do this often enough these days: This is such a poor evidence of incapacity for a capital with more than 12 million inhabitants, an affront to everybody who's looking for entertainment - farangs AND Thais! Something normally only bloody communist/fascist governments or crazy sects do. Even if you're not a night-owl, know bars only from the TV and usually sleep with a Singha in your hand in front of it at 11pm at the latest - these things are just ridiculous and show a certain state of mind and a political direction which should be fought against in principle!

Of course I am against any mandatory closings at 12AM or 2AM or otherwise. Let the marketplace decide. And, typically, I go to sleep rather early and get up rather early. Yet, I respect other peoples' rights to "do their thing".
Taksin and Company are open admirers of the Sarit Thanarat quasi-Fascist Thai regime of the late 1950s and early 1960s.
            Enough said.

fact is, I don't like anyone telling me what time I have to go home; it's treating us like children when we are all adults and should be able to decide on our own. in any big city it's not even fashionable or reasonable to go out until about 11 or 12, and here is what's supposed to be the 'fun capital' of the world closing at 12? I just don't get it.

in Thailand I have lots more interests than just chasing ladyboys. I like to hang with thai friends on Khoa San road and get all fucked up on weekends [before calling one of my favorite ladyboys LOL] and this new law will seemingly make that impossible. I can't even imagine going out at 8 or 9 PM because the lights in my favorite watering hole will be coming on at 1145 and we had better be all tanked up by then.

Insanity, plain and simple. i voted for the 2nd choice here, which was that it's bloody annoying and yes, i am VERY pissed about this. I was planning to going to Khoa San next weekend when i return to BKK and now i am not sure what time i should go, 9 or 11 like usual?

also stogie, remember that you are a newcomer to the thai scene. anyone who has been going there for a while [me since '97] remembers the good ol' days when pattaya was open until 4 or 5 and pooket was the same way, and you could drink all night in BKK if you so choose. all you need is your gas station and Kui.....some of us like a little more variety and would like it back to the way it was. or at least keep it at 2am for damn sakes.

It won't bother me in the slightest but I really do not think it is going to happen. Too much back lash from bar owners and tourists alike.

Only 5 days and I will be in LOS again!!!! Already planning my next trip for October and I have not even begun this trip yet!!!

Good point Tonio! Also I didn't say I "didn't care less", but that the changes won't affect me. I'm not a party person. (In fact I'm the worlds dullest ladyboy lover!)

Actually, where I live you can drink till dawn! It may not be as expensive and as loud or as touristy or even as exciting, but in the sticks we have our own laws! That of the consumer! In fact outside of Bangkok and a few touristy spots the law won't really have much of an impact. It never has in the past!

Anyway hopefully me and Stewart will be out and about on Monday the first of March to give yaw'll the low down...

Thai Government Decides on Delay and Partial Reprieve Regarding Operating Hours for Various Entertainment Venues

BANGKOK: According to a story on the front page of The Nation newspaper Saturday, February 28, 2004, the Thai Cabinet put into at least temporary abeyance plans to impose strict new regulations controlling the times various types of entertainment venues can be open.

Both that report and street intelligence indicate the move came at the behest of Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

At this point, about the only thing that remains reasonably certain is that the date a venue's license was issued will be the major determinant. Those venues granted licenses prior to the enactment of the Entertainment Act on January 13, 2004 will continue to operate under existing laws and regulations, whereas those licenses on or after that date will be subject to the new regulations when -- and if -- they actually are brought into effect.

While the news report says plans are to enforce a new set of regulations at some point, it is unclear when that might be. Many people are speculating that one strong possibility is that the government will let the issue sit quietly for some time and then either modify or eliminate the plan.

Resistance has been vocal, vociferous, and increasingly organized, according to street intelligence.

Interest in this debate remains extreme among all parties concerned, regardless of their individual views.

As of 3:30 P.M. Saturday, The Nation had not yet updated its online edition at http://nationmultimedia.com to reflect the addition of the story to the dead-tree version's front page early Saturday morning.

It appears that the people who have passed this ruling dont even know whats goin on.....

On the poll i noticed that some people said that the midnite closing wouldnt affect them in the slightest. Id be interested in knowing what they do exactly? What time they go to bed? or where they go..... I just thought it strange...im not saying that it will effect u as much as a night owl like me who lies in bed till 9pm b4 hitting the street...But i thought it would effect everyone as i know at some stage regardless of age whether it be weekday or weekend your in a bar somewhere at somestage after midnite...
