  • (Lefty @ Mar. 17 2008,08:17) When I was last in Pattaya, May '07, I was there for 3 weeks or so and went to 131 maybe 10 times. When I agreed with katoeylover, I meant I met him once, as in one vacation period, not one instance on one day.
All I can go by was how he treated me, and as just a customer, it was never a problem. He was always friendly, personable and helpful.
Exactly the same with me Lefty, I met Franck several times over a 13 day period on my trip last May and never had a problem with Franck

    • (kahuna @ Mar. 17 2008,17:16) And why in the hell are we still talking about him?
      Classic, Kahuna!!

same as Moo and Emma/Amy/whatever the hell that usless HO is called this week, some people just can't let a thread go and they continue on and on and on and .....ooops, now *I* am guilty as well!!

a thread about some clown who opened a bar and scammed some people...... jeeeez, that never happens in Thailand!

Love Dave's quote also; "Who's Franck?"

      • Move on guys.

Franck opened a bar (illegally) in March 2007 - he survived for 7 months before "doing a runner".

Yes he was a very personable guy but needed to borrow money to feed his habit - the bar did not provide enough income to do this. Lesson for all - pay as you go - running a bar is NOT as profitable as you may think - especially if you abuse the assets!!

So he has moved on - so should we. Another lesson - love versus letchery - up to you!

There are numerous venues in Pattaya - they open, they close, and some survive. You come here on holiday so why even worry? There are many bars to satisfy the members - they change location/name as often as a LB changes their bikinis!

        Soi 13/1 - Stringfellows + La Bamba (now has a a sign!)
Soi 6 - HiBoss, Pooks (maybe) and numerous others
Walking St - JSB. Linda's, Limoquoi (sorry maybe spelling wrong)
Naklua - VIP - Family bar (sic!)
        New Orn - Soi Diana

Most bars seem to ave token LB's so why worry about history - it is written, but cannot be changed, but the present provides new opportunities. Enjoy your trip.

                • Farangs, without a work permit, cannot get check books nor Thai credit cards.

I guess that even if you got one you would need to be able to write Thai to fill it out.

When I get my bill in a big supermarket I have no idea if I have been overcharged as all the items are printed in Thai. I thought learning to speak Thai was difficult - I take my hat off to anyone who can read and write Thai.

                    • I dont think Franck was such a bad guy. He made some mistakes, and ripped off a few people. My Thai ex stole my house - 3 million baht- she was someone I was very intimate with! Let alone friends. No one comes to my and others support over this- they just say TIT and you should have known better.

Well to those that Franck took money from for a bar in Pattaya, I say the same. And the amounts people talk of equate to a very old second hand car at home. No BIG deal.

I also wonder how he could run a business with some forum members critisizing his actions on a daily basis. I think that must have been most distressing for him or anyone of us for that matter.

I'll raise a glass to Franck and say he was a Character who provided a great deal of entertainment and interest to many people on many forums. He also raised the profile of specialist ladyboy bars- on the internet and maybe thats a legacy that Club 131 got from him which was inheritted by its re-incarnation La Bamba.
