Winding down after one of the most profitable and fortunate days of the year, it's just occurred to me that apart from making loadsamoney and having fate drop something extremely valuable in my lap, I have been offered sex and drugs by members of this forum, in a manner of speaking. I had no idea the crowd in this place was so hospitable.

Intellectual property protection is an important thing - but the current problem is the laws and structure of how they are doing it has not advanced with the pace of technology. Copyright regulations were drafted with books and records in mind - and have not really been updated.

Digital rights protection as attempted by Sony and other companies fail - what they have to do is "out-pirate" the pirate in pricing, but factor in a premium for convenience to the consumer. As a few have commented here - they don't want to spend hours searching for a free download and more hours downloading it.

This is where creative technological people should be involved to revolutionize this whole set up so businesses that foster original research and development can still profit from their efforts, and maintain enough share to keep the pirates at bay.

This is my 2 satang opinion -

When did you here (sic) of a ladyboy pornstar being considered an artist? The same would apply to most so-called rock stars. I don't consider either to be art. As such, what you just said doesn't apply. There are plenty of talented people who do produce art in whatever form they enjoy for free. There are also plenty of professionals who also produce for free as and when they like. They are not confined by a compulsion to make money for producing something they enjoy and want to share.

I gladly accept your nomination. As with any award, the true value lies in being nominated by one's peers. In this case, I can think of few better qualified than you. Sorry about your shirt.

Most of you have just spoken so far out of your ass on a topic you know nothing about that it is appauling. I'm going to leave it here and agree to disagree. If I want to have an intellectual conversation regarding piracy, I will talk to people who actually know what is really going on.

I should have known better than to discuss such an important matter on a transsexual board.

(jonstroud @ Sep. 05 2007,09:55) Thanks to peer to peer sites like BLANK.com, downloading these videos is a synch.

On the subject of rates, I've been told by a couple of LBs that the Yeti at one of this site's rivals pays 10,000 baht per session and that's double what the others are (were) paying in Pattaya.
Thanks for stealing everyone's movies asshole.

I hope I get a chance to meet you someday so I can pay a ladyboy to drug you and rob you blind.

Can someone ban this guy? If he is stealing DVDs he is probably also stealing content from this site.

Be careful what you wish for. You have no idea who I am so mouthing off about what you'd like to do to me is extremely stupid. If you are so keen to meet me it's easy to arrange. I live in Bangkok most of the time.

For what it's worth, I downloaded one of the Little Asian series and decided there were better uses for my bandwidth in future. Still, if you can persuade people to pay for that stuff then good for you.

The same goes for the AsianTS rips that are readily available. I don't download it for free because the graphic content doesn't interest me very much.

In both cases, you would never have me as a paying customer because I don't want what you are selling. I'm not knocking anyone who sells what you are offering, nor am I knocking your buyers, although it does surprise me there are still so many people willing to pay.

No doubt someone will point out that if no one pays for the stuff there's non incentive to produce. That sounds true but isn't. Artists produce art for the sake of it. Just look at the explosion of writing, pictures and video on the internet from "amateurs" who are simply expressing themselves. The only losers are the businessmen. So what.

Rant over. If you and Bam are still keen to meet me, you know how to send a message.
Oh, I don't want to meet you. I only want to have you robbed.

But I do find it amusing that you can steal from me, yet when the tables turn you get defensive and warn me of how big a bad ass you are. Typical.

The music industry was cut in HALF in just 2 years...
Good. It's a scam and always has been. Same as what you and I do. It's a scam and anyone can get what we sell for free... the upside is that there are a few people that know so little about computers that they have to pay for it!

If your product is good enough and properly marketed then you'll find a fee paying audience. The people downloading your content for free wouldn't pay for it even if the free option wasn't available.

The music industry has collapsed and that is in favour of the musicians and the music lovers. The advertising companies and record labels who contribute NOTHING to the artistic process are the only ones that suffer.

I tell you what... IF it is really stealing like you say you show me what your missing and I'll compensate you!
Sorry Stogie, I have to disagree with you bud. You really need to research what it is you are talking about here. It's a much larger problem than you are aware of.

I dont know what you get paid here, but I can assure you that based on what is going on right now, you will be out of a job in 2 years or less. Every site owner and every DVD company owner I know is taking huge losses right now. And admit to it or not, AsianTS.com if it is not already taking a bit of a beating, it's going to.

I'm almost retired anyway so at the end of the day, an though piracy does cost me money, I've put back enough to float me through life on easy street should the bottom fall out tomorrow. I hope you have done the same.

Laugh now, but remember this thread.

This is apples to oranges and easily one of the worst comparisons I've seen ever...

The word 'professional', by its very definition, means someone is engaging in an activity for financial return. So yes, all those rock stars, porn stars, or whatever, are doing something day in and day out to earn them money.

But for every Jenna Jameson or Mick Jagger, you have a dozen painters, sculpters, musicians, dancers, etc... that choose to do those very things for their own joie de vivre. To simply say that these artists are engaging in these activities for a purely commercial reason, especially when a vast majority do not earn a living and never will from their art, is ridiculous.

You might have the odd pimply faced teenager that picks up the guitar for the first dreaming "I want to make a billion bucks and shag a lot of hotties", but I don't think the first time I picked up my first paintbrush I was calculating the millions I would make as a professional artist.
I'm a rough-ridin', hootin' and hollerin', ladyboy lovin' cowboy! Bang bang yer dead!!!

I don't really have a say in either side of this argument, although I will admit that intellectual property rights are an important and necessary component to a well-functioning free market economy. However, I was intrigued by Stogie's point about breaking laws and was wondering what your take was on this?

An honest question, so you will get an honest answer. If you mean "breaking law" in regards to shooting in Thailand, I will address that:

Yes, anyone who shoots in Thailand is breaking the law. I am, monkey man is, all of us. So in that sense, it could be said that a criminal is a criminal. However, unlike piracy where it is illegal the world over, porn is not. You can shoot legally in many countries, but Thailand you can not. In fact, it is illegal to even access an adult web site in Thailand.

With that said, that is not a real argument because the movies I shoot IN the USA, legally, are stolen more than the movies I shoot in Thailand.

Also keep in mind that prostitution is also ILLEGAL in Thailand. So you have to take their laws with a grain of salt.

You can't really compare shooting porn and piracy. Piracy is theft, plain and simple. None of you would walk up to me, put your hand in my pocket and take my cash. At least you wouldn't live to tell about it if you did. And none of you would walk into your nearest video store and just put a DVD in your pocket and walk out. But online, it is easy and nobody feels guilt for doing it. Somehow they justify stealing because it's on the internet.

The argument that "we deserve it" is just insane. Listen, everyone in Hollywood, the music industry and the porn industry has to put food on the table the same as you do. What people think about is "they make so much money, fuck em!" and they steal. What they don't think about is the people who DON'T make he money and are losing jobs due to piracy. The guy who prints the DVD covers, the guy who presses the DVDs, the guys in the warehouse taking care of inventory, the girl at the counter at your local video store... this IS trickling down right now. Jobs are being lost RIGHT NOW!!!! Not in 4 years, but right now!!!

Just about every company is scaling down (mainstream and adult) and that means the guys working for not much money is out of a job.

Yea, I get paid. I'm not gonna lie. HOWEVER, I also take the risks. 3 years in a Thai jail sound like fun to you? Well, that is the risk all of us take, so yea, we had better get paid. But does that still make it OK to rip me off? No.

Like I said, I will be fine. But those who work for someone or can not adapt, is going to be ass out very soon.

And to say that those who steal would not buy anyway. That is bullshit. Naptster and Itunes proved that wrong. Sure, SOME people will always steal but the others will pay if they have to. We are supposed to pay for tangible goods and those who feel otherwise are criminals.

Like I said before... You tell me what's been stolen and I'll compensate you 100%!

Track down these people who have downloaded your stuff and ask them if they'd be willing to pay for it at even 20% of your retail asking price!

People who download porn on the internet have almost NO impact on your retail sales. The fact is that they would NOT pay for it even if it was NOT available for free.

This tired old argument reminds me of the EMI bosses who wanted to ban radio cassette recorders!

Suck it up and figure in the costs of this rampant piracy on to your bottom line the same as clothes shops figure in shoplifting into their prices...
