(PogueMahone @ Jul. 31 2007,16:40) Once you have entered into a relationship with an LB then you had better understand the Thai concept of "Nam Jai"  Which literally means "juice of the heart."  You are expected to show this by buying them things, taking them places and proving to them that you do care for them.

 In return the LB will have to show "Gat Dan Yu" (spl??) to you.  That basically means she has a responsibility to repay you by taking care of you.  The more "Nam Jai" you show to her and her family the greater this payback is for her.  It is a system that is ingrained in the Thai persona and unless you try and understand it ,accept it you are wasting your time.

I have just bought my "teerak" a new TV  which incidently "I" offered to buy her and there was absolutely no "suggestion" of it from her


I agree with the "Gat Dan Yu" thing because sometimes all I get from her now on the phone is

"I no good " "I want take care you" "I feel bad girl I not take care you now" "Why you still like me?"

Trying to tell her it doesn't matter is "pointless" as its intergrated in her head

Im sure she will more than make it up to me when I return

I was going to put this additional post in the Living in Thailand area but it adds more to this "Nam Jai" thing. Because my wife was getting bored just doing nothing I suggested that she look into opening some type of shop that would provide her with her "own" money. She jumped at the chance and she and her Mama spent two weeks going around Surin looking for a place to buy or rent. The original plan was for them to open some type of food shop as her Mama is an amazing cook. Well, in the course of them being out and about looking the wife decided that she wanted to have a shop to sell clothes. Now, with my investment of course, she has a little shop in the center of Surin where she sells dresses, shirts, shoes, pants and accessories. She is like a demon now, up every morning and off to the shop with her Mama. She does not care if she only sells a few hundred Baht worth of merchandise, she is happy to have a small business of her own. People are starting to come by more and more as the word gets out that an LB who has married a Farang, has a big home and is a good lady has opened a shop. Sometimes I go by on my way to the afternoon male bonding gab fest at Nobby's and there will be other LB'S in there and they are all laughing and joking, looking at the inventory and having the time of their lives.
Bottom line, our life together has never been this happy. She knows without a doubt that I love her, that I will support her in the things that mean the most to her, that I will do my best to take care of her. She in return makes my life a trip to fantasy island. When things will take a turn for the worst healthwise for me I will be well taken off by her and her entire family. This is all part of "Nam Jai" and the "Gat Dan Yu" that you must accept if you are to have a long term relationship with a Thai Lady or LB.

thanks pm this was something i was looking for......i dont understand though why some will let these working girls take them to the mall and put them in a situation of purchasing unknown gift for big money....silly walking atm's
