I've paid 800 baht for a freelancer in Soi 3 and was great. I picked her up again a few month later and paid 1000 and it sucked BIG TIME! Just rushing the whole and wanted to get the hell out of my room ASAP.

Equation higher $$$ = better service is not necessarily true in Thailand, and in general when it comes to paid sex!

2000 baht is a whole working week (12 hours a day) for many many many people in Thailand. Getting that amount to lick my dickhead for 10 minutes versus 12 hours of sweat for 7 days it seems like a good deal to me.

Am I Kruel..no..just fuckin realistic because there are people earning 10/20/30 times what I do only because they picked the right job and conformed to some corporations systems, or just got lucky...
Am I squandering money around on fancy hotels and meals..no, I just count every penny I spend because I earn it the hard way.

Nothing hysterical about..but nobody gives me one penny more than what I deserve, why should I do that?

Sorry but Looker is right here....overpaying the girls does not equate to better service.....in fact, it does quite the opposite. Thai's will usually mistake kindness for weakness and will look at you as an easy mark that will pay higher rates, regardless of the service. Now I still think anything under 800 is a bit low for ST in Bangkok but anyone paying 2,000baht for ST has no clue what the going rate is. 5 years ago, that might be a slightly above standard rate but since that time the US dollar has went from 45 to 34 baht rate. That makes what was once a $45 dollar tip and turns it into a $70 tip..approximately...BIG DIFFERENCE.

I am not saying guys shouldnt pay what they feel is reasonable but dont think that paying higher tips equates to good service.

As Brocklanders rightly says, the relationship Asians have with money it's seen in a different way from what we have in the western world.
I've been in Asia for almost 20 years..I must have learnt something, uhu
Besides, I don't get my kicks by being looked upon as the "generous" farang who likes to pay always 50% more than what's necessary.
I leave that kick to the wealthy Asians who like to squander money and giving tips to those suckers massaging their ass while pissing at the fancy nightclubs' toilets
What I realized in life is that we already overpay everything in 90% of the cases for what we buy, rent or use

you guys all make valid points but let me just make one more of my own.... these girls provide a valuable commodity that we all want, yes? so, same as the telephone operator in Bangalore who answers tech questions for Dell or Microsoft and makes 10 times more than their parents ever did, these girls can provide a service better than picking rice or working in a factory or behind the wheel of a taxi so they really should make a higher wage than most Thai's do.

I will concede that overpaying [everyone's standard of that is different of course] is a sign of weakness, and that is a good reminder for the guys who pay WAY too much, like 4K or more because 'that is what I pay in the west'. But I also believe that by providing a service that is valuable to tourists these girls deserve a higher overall wage than most of their contemporaries.

I have no problem admitting I pay 2000 ST for any girl I meet in BKK, it's just my standard fare and I am comfortable with it, the girls are, and it doesn't 'drive up the rates' for the other punters, it's about average IMO.

Buttafly...1,500 is the going rate for ST when you consider all of the clueless newbies out there but 2,000 is above the rate...not by much and certainly not outrageous. Remember that 2,000 should also take into consideration that you paid 600 for a barfine as well. 2,600 baht is close to $80 which is not that cheap if you are a person like me who likes 2-3 ST's a day. If I paid that much, I would be out $350 a day, including hotel which isnt so cheap after a 10 day vacation, especially if you incude airfare from USA, Europe or Oz.

One thing is for sure, the ladyboys should be paid a slightly higher rate than real girls because they are getting banged in their ass on a regular basis which causes a lot more pain, wear and tear, etc. Call it an Ass Tax.

2 examples of very 'stupid' money being thrown around by westerners recently {I have heard much worse but these 2 are pretty bad}

We all have our own opinions on this subject and saying that guys who pay what you consider over the standard amount for ST are stupid or being laughed at by the girls is just plain ridiculous. I have no problem with you cheap charlies paying 500 for ST as even if you cannot admit to yourselves that is exactly what you are.

You travel half way across the world to see these girls as buttafly says and probably stay in a nice hotel,e at good food, drinks shit loads of alcohol but then skimp on the girls. Well if if makes you happy then do it and I will continue to pay more, get great service and feel good about it.
