so i'm sitting in obsession near the end of a long evening's prowl when the current lovely with her hand on my dick asks me to barfine her. she tells me it's only 300 baht (rather than the usual 600 baht) because it's half past midnight and they're closing in an hour - and she just doesn't want to wait. i.e., she doesn't want to lose me to another beauty i am *bound* to see if i step out to the nana parade after closing to "wait" for her.
i decline.
and sure enough, i end up with a lovely freelancer off the boulevard.
the next night i'm sitting in cascade, finally beside the lovely (and unknown) #55 and it's again half past midnight and she asks me to barfine her and this time i figure what the hell. i want this one for sure tonight. i've had my eye on her since i saw her a week earlier, so i say okay. i hold up three fingers and say 'but it's three hundred' right? she smiles and scampers off to change.
one of the waiters comes by to settle the bill.
he asks me 'barfine?'
i say 'yes' and again i *hold up three fingers* and say '300 baht, yes?' he nods with glazed eyes. i give a big note to cover the barfine and a few drinks and off he goes.
he returns two minutes later and i notice a clear lack of change.
i ask him, where's the rest of my money and he says 'barfine, yes?'
i say 'yes, but it's three hundred'. and *again* i hold up 3 fingers. he shrugs. i ask for the mamasan.
another guy comes over, this one in a suit, and i explain i'm barfining one of his girls, but as he's about to close i counted on the discount his sister bar had offered me just the previous night and had even confirmed it (holding up 3 fingers) with the girl and the waiter.
he said barfine *always* 600 baht.
he said girl already changed, i can not undo the barfine.
i said i would not argue with him, but i had made it clear i expected the 300 baht rate for so late a barfine and if he insisted on the 600, i would not be returning to his bar.
he said he didn't care.
he said 'you can go to other bar'.
that was clear enough.
i smiled, thanked him politely,
took the girl and left.
i have not returned to cascades since -- but then i was only in bangkok another four nights and obsession and guess and freelancers and friends kept me more than busy enough. had i been staying longer (and what i'll do upon my return), i'm not sure...
anyone else come upon this discount? this 'deception'?
or, as one regular here said to me:
"do you know what a girl thinks when you pay her barfine after midnight?"
"how generous you are and how happy she is?" i replied with a smile.
"no. she thinks how stupid you are." he said definitively.
i'm thinking he's right.
if you find 'the girl of your dreams' (or at least that night's dreams) and it's only 9 or 10 pm, then sure, pay, take her, guarantee yourself what you want - hell it's only $15usd! but...if they're about to close and she's desperate to be taken, the odds are *huge* she'll be even more desperate in another hour...and if she's not, an equal beauty on the street will be....
so, for me, no barfining after midnight...
