You're obviously not into clubs and music, dude. Nobody gives a shit what those guys are singing. It's all about rythm and groove that works on a dancefloor - all over the world. Only in the states peope associate this music with a certain group of people and lifestyle - but nowhere else! Those hip-hop lyrics are completely irrelevant to non-native English speaking countries. They would never realize if they are explicit or edited and quite frankly a country where song lyrics have to be edited is on the same poor level as one that introduces closing hours at 1am!

With a few exceptions you dont see that many miserable faces in Nana and it seems to get enough repeat business. I would say of people that actually use the bars the satisfaction rate is very high. Most guys understand that its a sex park and all that goes with that type of industry.

A very strange phenomena is Thailand is that you seem to have no way to get rid of these "bars". The first time I was there I was thinking, why the fuck of paying these bar fines? All you need is a "neighborhood" where all LB stand around, and you just go there. What's up with these stibid dances and drinks buying? anybody really go there to get Heineken?

Of course not. I go there to watch 20 beautiful near naked gyrating young ladies. Buying a drink is just the entrance fee to watch the show. Where else can you get entry to a show like this for 3 or 4 bucks??

Oh, and they throw in a free Heineken as welll....what a bargain.

Ten pounds for someone to travel to Issan and persuade 20 beautiful young girls to come and work in Bangkok, 10 pounds to sit in an air conditioned bar with music and 20 beautiful girls dancing in front of me, 10 pounds to be able to have the choice of these 20 beautiful girls to come to my hotel and have sex with me, 10 pounds to have some kind of insurance that the girls will not stab me or blatantly steal from me

If you are not going to have barfines, then tell me another business model that where the bar can make some money?? Cos if the bars are not there, there will not be freelancers hanging around outside to save you your precious 10 pounds anyway

Yeah, sure, it's just 10 pounds, but like I keep harping on, you should get a lot more for your money than just a show (which the bar doesn't really pay for) and the right to take a girl out before 2am (you can pick her up for free at the entrance to Nana).

You guys want to give these bar owners 10 pounds for nothing, that's your business, but don't pretend to justify it as a smart buy. You're getting robbed. If you don't mind, that's up to you, but it doesn't change the fact that you're still getting robbed.

Yes, it's a bargain all-around. But then again, a more "effiicient" economy would make the money goes to the real "sources". Heineken is 80 baht in 7-11 so it should be 80 baht everywhere and the premium above that should go to the girls.
So I guess I did not make my point clear. An ST is the price of cheap hotel - this certainly makes no sence at all. I think, again, a more efficient econmy would give he girl more and give the hotel less. Getting fucked SHOULD be "valued" more than changing bed sheets.

But then again, an LT can almost pay your rent is kind of fucked up too. Only in Thailand, man, only in Thailand.

Bar owners are definitely taking advantages of TOURISTS, unfortunately I am one of them.
These middle-men should be eliminated but I kind of also agree it'll take time, some very long time. I think ATS website is kind of doing the job of eliminating them. Think about the familiar names here on sites. I bet 20 years ago you had to really be in Bangkok to even know the 3rd sex exist. Now, you get to jerk off to some of the best looking ladyboys in the world. It's "only" another 10 years from when we can just book our trip - including LB companies from lb-travelocity.com .

I was amazed to see John Smiths Extra Smooth in large cans at TOPS today!!

Thailand just gets better everyday, and at 139 Baht it is not too overpriced.

Still does not compare to the wide range available in HK yet (nor their attractive prices) but at least we are moving in the right direction.
