That is a sad story.

I'm having to fight really hard to not to get seriously pissed off about it, and .... well shit, I'm not even going to start.

For anyone arguing this, I don't think you consider enoughthe prospect of having your dick cut off.

You can't remove that like breast implants. And comparing it to accidents has no bearing on being psychologically pressured into having your f'ing DICK CUT OFF. Those are not in the same category at all.

Aside from being unable to enjoy sex (I refure to believe anyone who says otherwise), this girl has to live with the sinking feeling of calling herself an idiot for the rest of her life for letting someone talk her into this.

This anecdote is muddied by several confounders:

1) she unfortunately had a surgery she did not want to have
2) she underwent the surgery to please a foreigner paying her money
3) how could she possibly confuse love with pleasing a customer?....a difficult question for someone who has never walked in her heels....i am certainly no expert, but prostitutes are sometimes said to be trauma survivors of early emotional, physical or sexual abuses, and these psychological injuries can make it difficult to establish mature, healthy loving relationships as adults
4) she says she was not in love, but she also might have had some feelings for him (Pink Floyd "was it love or was it the idea of being in love"), and now that she has been dumped, she feels betrayed, humiliated and duped
5) the narrator of this anecdote is admittedly biased against post-op surgery
6) she continues to work in an industry in which many of the customers she meets are really no different than the jerk who talked her into having surgery: they value a particular body part (her dick), and not her

I think it is important to not take this anecdote as an indictment of SRS, which can be helpful when applied to the right candidate.

This anecdote is certainly an indictment of the damage prostitution in general causes a society. Had it been more difficult to find work as a prostitute, she might have chosen a different, more emotionally mature path.

There are plenty of non-op and post-ops in Thailand who are emotionally well-adjusted and happy and not working in the sex industry.

This is an interesting article (by a former prostitute) that appeared in LA Weekly. I am sure the difficulties he describes are universal and can be equally well-applied to Thai prostitutes.

As well as a real doctor trained in the west who knows how to do a good procedure on their body.

After living in Thailand off and on now for 5 years I see how their deal works, and some people get it as young as 16 or 17 with their parents consent! And with no counseling or therapy, no post-op peer support, and a terrible, horrible job done to their bodies by some idiot for less than it costs to get a shitty used car.

You hit the nail on the head however..... the author of this story is 100% against this procedure.

Doctors who take the time and proper procedure to dissect the nerves from the penis to form the neoclitoris will have patients who can orgasm. It is also possible for highly skilled doctors to create a self-lubricating vagina.

In addition orgasm is not simply based on physical sensations, a high degree of psychological factors are also involved.

Yes, there are those doctors who do a rush jobs, botched both cosmetically to make a fast baht, but there are some who are also skilled.

I do not know what the percentage breakdown is, but from the stories I have heard on the forum it seems the skilled doctors in Thailand are in the minority.

While we disagree about the merits of post-op surgery, I think we would agree that certainly there should be counselling, support, standards of care prior to proceeding with surgery and professional peer review in order to ensure quality control and no garage-style hack jobs.

Unfortunately, Thailand is in many ways the wild wild west, and there is not a lot of regulation there.

Of course, the libertarians and big-brother-phobes will probably disagree with us on the value of additional regulation.

I am relatively new here. Although it has been many years, I am still enamoured with a post-operative woman I dated in California when I was younger, and in some ways I never really got over her.
