We've bounced around the question of whether or not it's a good idea for a young ladyboy to have the SRS procedure done. There has been a whole lot of speculation and subjective comment. Some think they should just go ahead and have it done if that's what they want and others think it could be a terrible mistake.

I know that we have at least several pre- and post-op women who read the forum from time to time. I would be very appreciative of their comments on the topic since they are "the horse's mouth" so to speak. We all may have the opportunity at some time to discuss and sometimes counsel a young lady who is thinking about doing it and I'd like to be a little more informed on the subject. Anyone care to comment?

I don't think you will get what you seek here, sratwheel..... we don't really get too many ladyboys posting here and the ones that do are from the PI and not cut, or else we get Jackie LB and she is not cut either and never plans to do so. Jannie used to read here and still would but she [as well as Aon and Nan] have seen the way that post-ops are not really accepted here and don't read the forum anymore.

My interest in posties has led to a few friendships. It seems that it's remarkably hard to find them for several reasons:
- they're not so numerous in the US
- they're not so open (Americans are a bit behind the curve when it comes to gender)
- a great number work in the sex industry, and unless you're in JD's league, it's unlikely one can get to know many TSes on a personal level.

I forget the names of major medical and lay books on this topic...About a decade ago I decided to read all the literature available, and I think I did a pretty damned good job of informing myself, but I've since forgotten 95% of it. Meanwhile, surgical and psychological practices have come a long way.

I think that most pre-ops I've met, at least those in the flesh trade, were unlikely to ever get SRS. In contrast the posties I've known have all told me that their mothers actually supported them, and they are glad they've done it.

If you ever want to give advice about srs to a young ladyboy then please tell her to wait as long as she can while talking to a psychiatrist ! Not a thai plastic surgeon !!!! Cutting your penis off and adopting a false fish box is an extremely serious thing to do without proper and prolonged professional medical councelling !

I really despair at the flippant attitude that some ladyboys adopt to SRS !!!! What worrys me more is that the older fucked up post-ops with no life or money actually encourage the young and naive ladyboys to get cut ! Why ?

Medicine has always been superior in the Western World period ! It is a fact and if you ever get sick in asia as I have you pray to get home !!! Even if you go private !

Therefore, I believe there are scores of young ladyboys being "forced" almost to cut for money without them being able to really think of the future outcomes ! They have no psychological help at all and if they lived here in london these ladyboys would be observed for at least 1 year before SRS ! We do things right here and properly as we have expertise that is not confounded by money in terms of corruption !

Unfortunately Thailand is rife with unethical doctors who will do anything for money ! The prime aim of a doctors job is to ; " SAVE LIFE and not CAUSE HARM " !

Do everything you can to councel a young ladyboy from literally ruining her life till she dies !!! Just think about it for 1 second - a box that does not work ? Never concieve children, Possibly never experiencing another orgasm in your life ! Is it any wonder we hear about many post op going crazy ?

If I could not orgasm I would kill myself ! God gave us a real pleasure, a pleasure unsurpassed by anything invented by man be that alcohol, money or drugs !!! Nothing that man can invent will ever supercede the pleasure of orgasm !!!

Can a young, poor, vunerable ladyboy appreciate this in the desperate environment she must coexist in ?

We must do everything we can to talk with these girls and show them the otherside of the coin ! Though we are Farang and therefore compromised to a degree - do we dare try my happy friends ?

Excellent post indefatigable and I personally agree that they should wait until they have had the professional guidance necessary to make an informed choice. Unfortunately, like so many things in third world countries, life is cheap and not many care if someone is wasted. Peer pressure can be extremely persuasive and we all know how money talks. The real key here is if we are faced with such a situation where we have the opportunity to influence the outcome will we rise to the occasion and provide information and support or will we just bang and pay and let them go? It's tough when you are just a flash and gone. Stogie's Kui is the kind of TG resource in Pattaya that we need around for referral.

Indefatigable, you are right about it being too easy for them to get SRS. If you have the money you can have the operation. There should be some sort of waiting time where counselling is undertaken to ensure that it is the best decision for the patient and they are fully aware of all that is involved and the implications of it.

Do those considering SRS really think of what their lives will be like in 20 or 30 years time? If they go through some professional counselling beforehand, and then decide to still go through with the surgery, that is fair enough.

I disagree partly with what you say about Western medicine being superior period. Thailand has some world class hospitals. I believe they are world leaders in SRS surgery (as well as reattaching penises to husbands who stray!!). The problem is that the cost of using these world class hospitals, such as Bumrungrad, is too much for the average Thai. The sort of hospitals that the average Thai can afford are not in the same league. However there are a number of hospitals in the UK that I would not fancy going to either.

Think back to when you were 19 or 20 years old. Would you have been mature enough and capable enough to make such a life changing, and irreversible, decision?

My friend Am has told me that she want the chop ASAP. She is 22 YO and her mother is supporting her. Im not sure how i feel about this as she is not really my GIRLFRIEND yet but just a girlfriend . She is absolutely stunning and turns heads for sure but my chats have come to nothing about not having it done.

Her personality is so really feminine that i would think that in this case it will work out for her. Its hard to even think of her as a transexual.

I'd lay money less than 5% can actually achieve orgasam through physical stimulation. According to SRS statistics found in articles on the Internet. I have read and seen shows about this very subject and the Surgeons who preform the operations state that less than 20% can achieve physical Stimulation because the Nerve damage is so bad. I suspect that the support of their mother may be a very good indication of whether someone who knows them thinks they'd be able to live in the world as a female (esp. as it's their mother...the closest female in the world). At least 3, perhaps 4, post-ops have told me that their mother's support was very important to them.

Good post indefatigable. LBs are no different from you or I as young men. We did things stupid and never thought of the long-term consequences. Likewise, they do the same. As usual, there are many variants of post-ops. Some do it for the perception of more money. Some absolutely despise their dick; it's like a cancer. So, there's no clear answer here. The validity of SRS depends on the individual assuming some level of maturity. Unfortunately, I think most Thai post-ops are immature and likely from rural settings, and not exactly versed on long-term psychological or physical impacts.

BTW, the better Thai hospitals, in my view, exceed any western hospital I've ever seen (I'm Canadian). I go to the hospital in Thailand before I do a home trip, because it's so much better here. And for LB surgery, isn't it totally obvious Thailand is likely the best in the world? My minimal understanding on this is that Brazil and Thailand lead the world in LB surgery. Also, I have never met nor heard of a Thai doctor that would do something like that for money. I'm sure there are some, but no more than UK doctors is my guess (or Canadian).
