In this case, I have to agree with you - the occasional 'newbie' or Japanese "5-5-5" are not going to spoil it for the more seasoned veterans unless WE let the ladies get away with it

Kindly bear with me as I relate a short story to illustrate my point

Long ago when I was a newbie expat in my first posting offshore (Subic Bay, Philippines, 1980) we used to dread when the 7th Fleet would arrive in town for shore leave

As the hordes of sailors flooded the bars in Olongapo town - most with too much $$ in their pockets and not enought time to spend it - we permanent residents living in town would groan at the temporary foolishness of the (soon to be) poor lads as well as the bar girls with the same $$ in their eyes

At such times, those of us who might venture out amid the horny horde would get the standard tit rub and cock brush at the bar along with the usual

"...you buy me drink...?", and

"...I love you no shit, what ship you from...?"

At such times, our reply was always the same

"...Station Dito..." (English-Tagalog translation "...stationed here...")

thus conveying the unspoken yet clearly understood message "... I'm not some FNG just off a ship, so do not even THINK of trying to fleece me as I know what the REAL rates are when the fleet isn't here...

In such encounters, most girls who were confident in finding some shipboard mark willing to pay 2x-3x the standard rates would simply nod their heads and leave us in the lurch...

...only to greet us sweetly when we visited the bar the following week once the fleet had departed and we "station dito" types were (once again) the only game in town

I think what Stogie is saying in this case is that no FNG on vacation at the Marriott with more baht than brains is going to screw the pooch for the rest of us

Moreover, if a favorite bar girl is inclined to try her luck at applying her windfall good fortune to those of us who know better, there is an easy remedy...

...find a NEW favorite girl, or...

...better still,  take a page from Stogie and Bangkok Mike's respective books and shop for a girl who  doesn't work in the bars...

this is everyone's dream....trouble is, Mike and Stogie and Snick live there full time.... how the hell do the rest of us few-times-per-year guys meet these girls, and how would they stay faithful to us for the 9 or 10 months we are NOT there?

My biggest fear is that prices WILL go up invariably and that in certain quarters with certain lookers you will be expected to pay eventually just below market prices you would expect to see in the UK/US. This will be the most unfortunate day ever for thailand and I guess will kill the sex tourist scene dead. Sure I love the country and the food etc.. but to pay 200 sterling for pussy is end game. I don't think you'll see that price for a longtime yet but it is getting more and more expensive and thing are a changing... Increasingly the girls are going out to HK,Taiwan and Singapore but also Europe too. They have been empowered by the Internet and increasing travel this has opened up a new utopia for them and their worth. These girls are no longer dumb farm girls from Issan. Some will be moving in increasingly priviledged circles and the internet has made the ts scene much more accessible to all sorts of people especially corporate types it seems to me. These girls will come to expect high living and will eventually demand it. The one thing in our favour is that it is a niche market still as someone else rightly mentioned. I cannot see us paying B3000 for longtime anymore. If you think longterm and you are on holiday for say 10 days at B3000 per night just for sex then you can see how things can start to get really expensive !!!!!!!!! Sure for 3000 you get all night as opposed to 1/2 hour in the West but 30,000 is 30,000 out your pocket.

Off to Pattaya I suppose, and I really don't think the quality is anything near as good as Bkk. When I first arrived in Bkk the TS scene was just paradise, how things have changed. I would not be surprised to see a shift to countries like laos and vietnam eventually. Who knows maybe even Burma ? Stranger things have happened.
