    Returning to the original topic...

I think that the drink pressure at SF is not so much about getting a drink but about being the one you'll sit with and possibly barfine. So when you come in all the ladies are trying to be the one you choose so she has a shot at making some money that night.

Once you've chosen someone the rest generally back off and there is no more drink pressure (except for girls you have gone out with before may stop by and try to get a drink and earn a bit of money even though they won't get the big prize).

So I've said this before but it's best to choose someone to sit with quickly (either outside or on the stage) and then you can have a relaxing no-hassle time there.

I don't disagree with the rest of your post, but is this the right advice to give to first timers, chose someone before they have had a chance to look around?

The whole point of going to the clubs & watching the girls dance is to relax while deciding who takes our fancy. Preferably with a drink.
Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.

(PigDogg @ Mar. 11 2009,22:58) Pacie, When u walk in they'll be singing:

        Unforgettable in every way
And forever more, that's how you'll stay
        If only...

I think I am more likely to hear Ray Charles -

"Hit the road Jack & don't you come back no more, no more....."

Exactly. What kind of situation are we in when we are advised to pick a girl fast to avoid being swamped by the rest of them.

Seems hardly worth buying a drink in the first place.

May as well scrap the dancing altogether. Then you can just walk up to the bar - scan the talent smoking cigarettes outside and say "You'll do!" and fuck off sharpish!

Which is more or less the Soi 6 situation (except Pook).

Customer unfriendly policies keep customers away unless there is a otherwise compelling reason to go.

(Ozzie @ Mar. 06 2009,22:51) I would ask that any posts not relevant to the current environment at Stringfellows be removed. I started this thread to get peoples comments on the bar as it currently is not as it was or for promoting other bars.

There is a very simple solution to your problems with Stringfellows Ozzie

simply - STAY AWAY - if you don't like the bar why keep going back.

Most others who visit the bar like it - maybe it's you not the staff that the problem.

If I'm not treated right in LOS then I just don't go back, it's my holiday, my cash and if I don't enjoy a place I don't stay, so what's the problem.

Well if it was me then I would have the same problem in every bar then right?

Given that pretty much every other BM has the same problem are you saying that it is them then and not the bar?

As far as keep going back I have been there about 3 times in 18 months as I thought it might have changed I tried it again.

You have been back three times ??? maybe the staff have identified you as one of these cheap charlie losers that flit around Pattaya and decided to treat you accordingly in the hope that you would stay away.

Compared to where the most of us travel from, the delights that are on offer in Pattaya just cannot be obtained anywhere else at the same price.

It really annoys me when someone like you goes into a great club like Stringfellows, feels slighted and then whinges all over the place. If you had a problem all you had to do was contact Bob, don't say you couldn't as he's normally there and he has even posted a telephone number on his site.

Get over it Ozzie - it's YOU that's the problem, all the rest of us enjoy going to Stringfellow's and to be serious we could do without the likes of your patronage.

In close to 30 years travelling to and living in LOS I have rarely had the problems you seem to have, but, I have seen so many like you there. Guys that couldn't pick up a shirt button off the floor never mind one of the beauties in Stringfellow's, have a few quid in their pockets and think they own the place. Well I have news for you - you don't and the sooner you realise it the sooner you will start to enjoy life.

There is an old saying "you get what you pay for" if you don't want to pay just move on - you can always get a couple of beers at the 7eleven and go down the beach front I'm sure you will meet something in your price range there and amazingly you will not have to buy them a lady drink.

Better still stay at home, buy a six pack etc - just think of all the money you could save - and you could even enjoy your own company as well - then you would have no problems at all. Leave LOS and bars and clubs like Stringfellow's to those who know how to enjoy themselves and not whinging nancies like you.

Ozzie doesn't like Stringfellows, so what, it doesn't stop you from going there and having a good time. Your not really adding anything contructive Saiphon, just trying to pick a fight.

Ozzie never complained about the cost just the attitude.

Alan: Michael, Michael, Michael, Michael. Come on, tell me about the ladyboys.
Michael: Oh, you mean those transsexuals? Aye, I seen them, but, you know, they're disgusting I kept away from them.
Alan: Oh God, yeah, yeah. Fascinating creatures, though. Looks like a lady, but really it's a man. I don't find them attractive, it's just confusing. I don't suppose you've got any army stories about them?

There are problems and then there are PROBLEMS.

Sure Stringfellows isn't perfect but there is no perfect bar. The only question is whether the pluses outweigh the minuses. Clearly for me they do as I stop by there every visit I make to Pattaya. I really enjoy the place.

Ozzie's real concerns have been twisted into some kind of supposed vendetta. This isn't the case.

Let's keep the thread real. Bob will be the first person to tell you that his club isn't for everyone and he wouldn't pretend that it is and he doesn't even pretend that it's anything other than what it is... a bar to watch ladyboys dance and a place to find 'companionship' for the evening (or next hour or so!)

How you feel walking out of a bar is largely reliant on your expectations walking into it.

Take Stringfellows for what it is... a great place to meet some sexy slutty ladyboys who will fuck you for the cost of a pizza.

Going in to any bar in Thailand and expecting too much more in terms of service... value for money... is going to end in disappointment all around.

I tend to side with Ozzie on this because I like to get treated well and have people serve me in service orientated establishments. It's horribly 'Western' of me and I should know better, but I STILL feel let down, frustrated and even pissed off when I'm treated like crap before I have even sat down!

I don't want to see things from Bob's point of view and I certainly don't want to empathize with a bunch of hard up hookers who have fallen on slow times...

I'm selfish like that! More to the point it's ME that's on fucking holiday, NOT THEM!

But, like you say saiphon... 'Just don't go back and quit whining!'

I wish I could. I want to but I can't. I see obvious flaws and want to get them fixed. I see a way of doing things that I would like better handled and that would help everyone out...

But what would I know... I'm only the guy with the money, right?

The bar works for some people. Actually, it works for many people... It's still going, right?

                                This IS the problem.

However my buddy Ozzie is not a cheap charlie loser.  He's one of the guys here who is quite free with the baht.  He just doesn't like to be treated like a chump.  I'm a cheap charlie loser though.

If the staff is going to attempt to identify cheap charlie losers and be rude to them in the first minute, some customers will just go elsewhere to find one of the thousands of ladyboys in Pattaya.
