I spent a week in Manaus, Brasil, and did a 4 day jungle tour. I didn't book the trip until I got to Manaus as I spent a day looking around at all the different tour companies. The trip was pretty lame, it was really more a riverside retreat then a jungle tour. The nights were spent in a lodge on the edge of lake Juma (a few hours from Manaus) and during the days we did various trips. We also spent one night in a jungle hut. The trips included lots of canoeing, hiking, piranha fishing, bird spotting, a visit to locals and caiman spotting at night (the guide actually caught a few small ones and took them back to the lodge). The caiman spotting was probably the best part of the trip. The only other wildlife I saw was lots of birds (toucans, macaws, ibis, egrets etc.), some howler monkeys and once the guide spotted a sloth that was really high up. The food was god and you could buy cheap cold beer. The trip was fairly touristy and ok if you just wanted to chill out on the river but I would have liked a bit more adventure. Unfortunately most of the trips from Manaus seemed to be the same and to get somewhere better you need more time and to travel further. It cost me $250R.

I have to agree with bigmick about Iguacu Falls, they are really spectacular. I spent a day on the Argentinian side and half a day on the Brasilian side.

Most of the other places I visited were in the North of Brasil. Rio was a great place with lots to do, some hot girls and I could have spent more time there (I would have liked to have gone to Ilha Grande). Sao Paulo had more TS and a good nightlife but not much else.

Hey Guys, some dirt cheap flights with Eva, couldnt resist lol. Poping over in September hope to see as many of you as i can for a catch up. 17/09/09-29/09/09 quite a short trip for me but i had no intention of coming, it was squirlys fault. Anywho, leme know whos around, probably do a 1 or 2 nights in Phuket, 1 or 2 in Bangkok and the rest of my time in Pattaya.......
