Gotta address this issue as I feel it's just too simplistic to just say people in the west are known to gang up on victims too and therefore there's no difference to what happens in Thailand.

Sure ganging up happens in the West and in my misspent youth have been on both the receiving and giving end of such encounters.

But in Thailand it's much more ingrained for example never in the West when witnessing a beat down have I ever seen people who had absolutely nothing to do with the situation joining in, But on 2 occasions on the same trip I witnessed this in BKK.

Also in the west it's still possible to have a one on one fair fight.

I've been in bars in the west where guys have challenged other guys ( infront of a dozen of their mates) to step outside and fight and not wanting to look a cunt in front of his mates the guy obliges

Now you try that shit in Thailand and I'll bet you any money you like It will be something like Poor Thai loses face so gets 10 of his mates to help him beat up Farang

so what i want to know is, just because we are in their country must we submit to the lies attempts at robbery and threats that these p4p workers try on at times?
these very things that when at home we stand up against and will not put up with.
violence and being attacked by a group of thai hooligans is obviously another matter when if your on your own then yes i agree its best to find a safer escape if possible and not be steven segal mode.
but i am fucked if any hooker in any country is going to threaten and bully me in to "giving" her money just because she wants to triple the fee after an agreement
in my experience 1 on 1 and even 2/3 on 1 when faced with a very real and strong standoff they do not like it.
more than 2 or 3 and i would most deffo look to buy my way out or similar.

For many of the comments on this thread there are common themes of confrontation and looking for some kind of justice.

I've been hit with the 'Gimme more money!' act before. Usually it's just a test to see how much they can get away with. The way the situation has been handled varies.

After a while in the business you just get a feel for the scammers and chancers and obviously avoid them.

As for the indignant "There's no way I would let a P4P... insert your own injustice here!'... well you have already lost.

You won't get any kind of just and fair treatment in the land of smiles.

All problems relating to Thais (in any situation) arise from the farang not having any humility and insisting on some kind of confrontation to prove his manhood.

Even when you have been ripped off there are ways of getting your own way and getting a situation resolved peacefully.

Unfortunately it's not the Western way and when those macho drunks infest Thailand they will always end up feeling bitter about their holidays.

Obviously Thailand and the Thai are not perfect, some LB are assholes yes but truly the super-great majority are not. Aggressive behaviour is in most cases instigated by us. This constant complaining that in Thailand you have no protection is also bullshit. The reality is we are treated quite well as welcome guests if we do the one thing we are welcome for ... PAY.
As soon as we do not want to pay we are not really needed and therefore not welcome any more.. Is that so strange??? Let me remind you that in our countries people who are not able to proof to have appropriate income are not even allowed in.
So for your own sake be more reasonable. With the kind of attitude some of you guys are showing, you will only get trouble. If you are cheap charlies and want to be treated like kings wake up. It is not going to happen....

by the way im not Thai but please guys Thailand is undoubtedly one of the warmest and friendly countries in the world. Maybe most of you guys are just meeting the wrong type of Thai girls. Try to have a vacation in US or in UK, Germany do you think people there are more friendly and warm than Thailand? And you think people in USA,UK,Germany and other countries would entertain you if you dont have money? Try to hire an escort TS girl in US average is around 250-300US$, in UK averare 150-200pound so arent you happy that you can get a stunning Thai girl for very less than 250-300US$?
