The only thing I was looking for in Q-bar the one and only time I went in there circa 2005 was the door to get out again!!
Most crowded, over-populated, touristy joint you could ever imagine being in and if you don't like crappy music with no lyrics, way too many people and over-priced drinks and annoying westerners, by all means avoid this place.
How to spot the ladyboy?? Head to Nana Plaza, 1 mile down the road!! 4 or 5 bars there have plenty of 'em.
*Probably mentioned here before, but Q-bar is really a take off on the word Khieu; as in Viet Khieu, a person who has left vietnam to live in the west and has returned to 'nam to live [and usually with a boatload of cash]. The owner of the original Q-bar in Saigon was a Viet Khieu who later branched out to BKK and if I am not mistaken a couple other cities?

Correct about the"Viet Khieu" thing JD...
I think nearly every capital in Aussie has one... the one in Oxford street used to rock hardest after 0500 in the morning... I had been known to wobble out about 3 in the afternoon... Real dregs of society place (I slotted in well) but excellent and entertaining dregs....

Really agree with you, I despise places like this and the types that seem to be attracted to them, just don't find them to be relaxing places to go.
I quite like Q-Bar and always enjoy an hour there from time to time, infact.......I am meeting friends at Q tonight. The last time I tried to take a ladyboy in was around 3 years ago and she was turned away by security after checking her ID however, it is probably fair to say that LB's who are familiar to the door staff or management gain entry.
OMG so if your a ladyboy or a transsexual girl Q Bar will not let you in? Isnt that discrimination? This kind of thing also happen in some places in Manila i taught in Bangkok its very TS girl friendly? Or they only let in TS girl who are not prostituting?
Great night at Q-Bar last night where I spent a few hours getting hammered with some mates. I did spot a handfull of ladyboys clearly enjoying themselves including this post-op called Mya (or Mia) whom I happily bought a glass of champagne for following a good ole tonsil tickle while my attending GG was in the ladies room
And in contrast to the people pics on Q-Bar's website.....not everyone in there is visually appealing
