yeah dropping out of the clouds and seeing bkk is great but for me i know iam there when in the airport i hear the anoncements that start with sawadee ka it allways brings a lump to my throat i know iam home my months of dreaming and waiting are over all be it for a sort time
I have to agree that living here would make it a totally different experience. I know that I would not want to live here, it is just not the life for me. I love Asia, I live in Japan, but most of Asia is great to visit, but you wouldn't want to live there.
So as long as I keep it as a couple of two week trips a year, it will keep that new car feeling every time I get on that plane.

(robbo @ Dec. 19 2009,06:36) best bit of the journey for me is and allways has been when those outside doors open at bkk airport and i take the first step onto the tarmac to grab a taxi.......the first smell sound and heat of LOS is unlike any other.
Just did that at dawn this morning. And I must agree.
Was traveling with a buddy who's been here plenty, and at each stage along the way we noted the feelings. But when we stepped out of the airport doors (and I was waiting for this), we just stopped and simultaneously took deep, toxic-filled breaths. And loved every toxin of it.
