  • Best feeling in the world, before getting to LOS

Went out with a friend of mine for dinner tonight here in Japan who will also be spending his Winter Break in Thailand. He arrives Thursday, I arrive Friday. It was a last planning session, and to make arrangements to meet in Pattaya for a few days while he is traveling around the country.

Anyway, as I was dropping him off at his place, I said "Well, see you next week in Thailand" and we both broke out in these shit eating grins, because it was that instant that it hit home that in 48 hours he will be checking in at Kansai Airport and in 72 I will be right behind him.

And that is the best feeling in the whole fucking world, BEFORE you get to Thailand, when it suddenly hits you that you are actually going to be there in hours instead of days or weeks.

Hope to bump into some of you guys in Pattaya soon!

First off, Im so mad at you (lol)!! Second I can remember back in May as i sat waiting and waiting in that hell hole of a sandbox. The only way I made it through, was to read the forums and look at the pic of bliss. I had to wait 15 years for my first trip and now I must wait another 4 1/2 months!! "The pain, the pain!!"

Bon Voyage, buddy. See you soon.

Is this friend of yours a friend of ours, as they say in the Cosa Nostra?

Neo, I will do my best to bring you both the heaven of images from my trip, and the hell that will be the 4 and a half months you have to spend looking at them before you can take some of your own, lol.

Farangbah, he might be a friend of ours, but this is his first trip to Thailand, so he has yet to earn his bones. Though he is curious to hit a LB bar to "check it out", which is always that first step over the line. And he did state that truism that LB give the best blowjobs, so I got a feeling he is joining the family, lol.

Of course for me, "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!" Not that I am complaining in the least, lol.

Yes, I told him I had when he asked, but I did not tell him that I was more of a Godfather (at least when it comes to Newhalfs) than a soldier, lol.

I think he wants to do it this coming Monday or Tuesday, but he will be in for a few days, so we can take him out when you arrive and blow his mind, lol

Yes, I know exactly what you are talking about. The feeling is universal but when we get it might vary from BM to BM. For me, the days just before the trip are great, but there's always a bit of low-grade anxiety. So many details to attend to at work, making sure the packing and all the details are properly sorted out for the trip and transfers, getting the cats off to the cat-sitter, getting the house locked down and secured...

For me, that feeling of true mega-bliss hit me when I was sitting in the British Air Terraces Lounge at San Francisco International, waiting for the midnight flight to Hong Kong. In less than 2 hours I'd be hopping onto the Cathay Pacific 747 with a Business Class seat, the Xanax in my pocket all ready to usher me off to la-la land a few hours after that, so I'd be waking up in Hong Kong rested and refreshed and ready to arrive in BKK only 4 hours after that.

In some ways for me, it's the most blissful part of the trip, because all the fantasies are fresh, there's no ugly reality to get in the way, and the world of LOS stretches out before the imagination completely unfettered.

When I actually get into LOS, a bit of the dis-ease sets in again, as I (a somewhat nervous/anxious person by nature) allow myself to get too uneasy about "making the most of my trip". I have to remind myself to slow down and stop worrying and go with it. I had a fantastic adventure last time, and will again this time, but one of the single most blissful moments of the trip for me is that wait in the SFO Lounge, and the first few minutes of boarding on the flight from USA to Asia.

                        I know, I'm a saddo...

best bit of the journey for me is and allways has been when those outside doors open at bkk airport and i take the first step onto the tarmac to grab a taxi.......the first smell sound and heat of LOS is unlike any other.the noise and heat even at night is something.thats it,it defines the journey for me.also enjoy the taxi ride into the city on my own ,knowing that this last 35 minutes may well be the last like it for a few weeks.into BKK and another world....

ive been to asia quite a bit, im really happy to leave as well like you but i think your feeling is more, oh yes i get to leave here this shit whole life, after a few weeks in thailand after being there and knowing n learning the game it does get old on return, not that its not much better i just think you home life must suck to be honest. i read the forums , some of u guys tap some ugly ass when your over there, ass i would never fuck were i am even though your choices are so great over there..

not cynical just honest, the charade of hanging with silly drunk uneducated thais bar girls does imo get old.

also i understand some of u guys go for only two to three weeks once or twice a year, your perceptions are vastly diff then people who stay for a long time- i envy your ignorace n enthusiasm but dont count on keeping it, it looses something eventually, even though its always pretty darn fun.

I echo whrw and Deepthroat and their comments and anticipation on heading to LOS. I feel the same way every time I am leading up to a trip there. The anticipation and flight there are quite stimulating. There is nothing like it. And I can understand what Hilbie says that it gets old after a while if you live there.

I think that is the difference. We dont live there and most of us wont live there. I could take a job there if I really wanted to be based there but that's just it, I dont want to be based there. Why? Because of what Bilbie said...it gets old after a while and it may lose it's shine.

I also support Bilbie's s comments and I believe they are quite true. Anything in abundance can get old real quick and maybe a bit boring. And he is also right that many of us may have jobs we are not quite happy with or maybe rather mundane. Ok, I can deal with that.....However.....
I have a good quality of living where I am based and enjoy the life that is around it. It is not bad in any way. It is a routine. Any routine can get boring. But it is a matter of perspective. I can accept the routine knowing I have something to work for. The next trip to LOS!!!

The point being that to live in Thailand and enjoy the fruits it has would be like giving a child all the candy they want. I would not want it. The short trips of a week or two several times a year are quite satisfying. And then you go back home and build up to the next one. Just like Christmas comes each year. If you had Christmas every month, it gets old.
Too much smoking kills the lungs, too much alcohol kills the liver, too much LOS loses it's luster and magic. I will keep it in moderation.

So I am quite happy with a job that pays the bills and provides me a quality of life I enjoy. Maybe I have to choke the chicken a few more times in between trips but ok, thats part of the deal. And the forums here fill in some gaps when i am not able to enjoy it myself.

3 months to the next trip for me......

Cheers everyone! And you all have a great Christmas Holiday!
