Well this is an interesting thread as it raises many themes on many levels.

On the general 'morality' scale, I go for foxxees post #69 (is that fate ?) and Lefty's #74.

I agree that a lie is a lie and I think most LBs and Thais know when they are lying or being dishonest. Several have told me so, and they're not even bargirls  

I follow JaiDee's thinking too. I draw the line, however, at saying that if some guy gets scammed he deserves it. Not so in all cases IMO.  JaiDee is a cruel man, though from all reports, fair.  

There followed some discussion of prices and relativism re Western and Asian markets....

I got kahuna's idea. I'm not sure I agree, but I'm still thinking about it. Which i guess is a credit to his input (don't short change yourself   ). This reminds me of a college friend who was grappling with the applicability of 'Western' concepts of Human Rights to China and the East for his thesis some years back. Now he's teaching at Princeton. I wonder what he's telling the kids there these days...

well-put Guy, and I can agree with some of your points.

But I will hardly ever yield on my main point; I almost always blame the guy being scammed and not the girl doing the scamming; websites like this one and books by people like Neil Hutchinson and Srephen Leather are here to warn guys about such scams and have been doing so for years. Guys who still get played in 2008, 2009 and 2010 and beyond?? With all the warnings out there?? Shame on them, not the hooker.

I won't argue with you there JaiDee. I've just read Fester's website. I will refrain from making any comments about his naivete or character. Or whether he 'deserved' it or not.

But I think much of what he says rings true. And I'm sure one of your experience will concur that it is not only an indictment of the 'lady' in question, but also a very common tale. (Her rebuttals on this thread were , at best,piecemeal, confined to calling him a philanderer and the father of an unpleasant daughter. Of course, the real issues were glossed over)...

Hell, I recognised the MO in there but fortunately my ex is/was just a beginner. Give her 7 more years and I'm sure it could all turn out the same way

A freind of mine where I live recently sold his bar to a falang and his GG wife. The minute me and Mrs foxxee met them ( the new owners) the  feeling between us was that she was getting hubby to buy the bar to complete the trifecta: The house, the kid, and finally the bar for income/status. Surprise surprise, barely 4 months later and he (older falang hubby) has been shown the door and the Thai hubby is back with her. Anyone surprised?

In honestly since posting earlier, (post #69, thanks for the kind words too Guy) I am finding myself tending to see Jaidees point more clearly: Guys are blinkered, expecting a hard core slut to change her habits. She won't! Choose carefully... And yet I see guys on another thread totally led by their cocks when the subject of Chompoo being back at work is mentioned.

I guess there ain't no educating some folks,. they have to learn the hard way.

I do agree with JaiDee to a large degree. I just don't take it as a blanket statement as there are many decent guys who get taken by very artful deceivers with no track record, no bar and no obvious tell-tale signs or alarm bells (apart from being Thai and young   ). All the warnings in the world won't change that.

Your example foxx is more like the case of someone getting what they deserved.. sad as it is. And then the Thai hubby fucks off or bleeds her dry and the Karmic cycle goes on...

Materialistic things are shite..... whether buying a big house to impress the neighbors or that Rolex to impress your friends at the bar, or for ladies the all-important {?} diamond ring or numerous gold babbles. I never considered this whole relationship as such until i read these words of wisdom; and if the old dude got burned by trying to buy a trophy wife than I side even more with the theory of survival of the fittest here. From what I've read so far, I can't see any direct evidence as to his motivation.  So this is all pure conjecture. (Maybe I have missed something on some deleted website or historical background).

Even if the guy is an A1 dickhead, the 'lady's' actions speak volumes enough and I think that should be the real target here.

Assuming that the facts are largely as presented, if this were the Old Bailey, the judge might well pass comment on the naivete, nay the stupidity of the victim, but as the gavel fell one would still hear the words : "Guilty ! Send her down".

As far as the evidence does go,none of her gain was due to any
divorce settlement and was freely given.
We'll never know her real motivation either,for all we know she may well
have loved him once..

This,as with the Natalie thread a while back, are Thai/LBs/women not allowed
to walk away once finance is involved without their motive questioned?

I am sure the MO is recognisable to many.

The 'gain' is not the issue. Nor is it the party. Whether Ladyboy or stupid farang.

Rather, it is the 'means'.

I don't see deceptive conduct as being excusable simply because the 'victim'* is a rich and stupid farang, or because the 'perpetrator'* is a Ladyboy. Or vice-versa.
