Regarding this sites "abhorrence" to drug use in LOS it is now becoming surprisingly clear to me that there are quite a few members that do "dabble" in the illegal activity which you can easily pay your way out of in the corrupt country that is Thailand. Like you said the laws they CHOOSE to enforce ....sometimes.If they tested and arrested everyone who proved + walking street would be empty. I,ve watched thais sell yabbato falangs not far from the BiB in walking street.After a lot of web searching it seems convictions are rare , you would have to search hard for the ones that have been quoted on this thread, the main ones were regarding actual dealers.

I realize you're not the brightest bulb on the tree, but here's some numbers and stats to give you pause for thought (that is, if you think at all):

* In a United Nations survey, Thailand ranked sixth in the world for drug convictions.

* 58% of the prisoners in Thai prisons are in on drug offenses.

* 3% of the prisoners are foreigners.

* Nearly half of all Thai prisoners are serving sentences of 5 or more years, and 10% are serving terms of 20 years to life.

* There are currently 213,815 prisoners in Thai jails.

So that works out to be around seven or eight thousand farang cooling their heels in Thai jails, and many of them won't see the light of day for a decade or more.

So in spite of what the barstool-bullshitters say, Thailand takes it's drug laws seriously enough to cause concern for anyone thinking about getting high.

Your odds of getting caught may be small, but that's the WHOLE POINT of this thread.  Doing drugs in a hotel room with strangers (especially if they are p4p ladyboys), can only increase your chances of getting caught (even if they are "friends" of yours).

Given the harsh penalties and length jail sentences, that kind of action is just flat-out stupid.  You can explain it away with all your bullshit extreme-sports analogies and "don't talk like my mom" comebacks, but the simple fact is, breaking a law in Thailand is just dumb, dumb, dumb. Especially if it's one that they actually enforce!

Comparing Thailand's lax enforcement of its anti-prostitution laws to Thailand's hit-or-miss enforcement of its anti-drug laws is a very poor attempt to divert the topic without acknowledging the facts.  Thailand does not enforce its prostitution laws, period.  They do, however, enforce their drug laws.  Maybe not consistently or fairly, but arrests and convictions do happen.

Do you really want to risk 20+ years in a Bangkok jail for a buzz?  Are you that dumb?

And one final note: You accuse me of "oppressing" your right to do drugs, and so your response is to compare me to one of the biggest mass murderers of the 20th century.  Over-react much?

I'm not being anti-drug, I'm just saying that if you get this bent out of shape when someone criticizes your drug habit, maybe that's indicative of a bigger problem.
