If some guys want to paint all bar girls with the same broad brush, up to them. I know they are not all the same. Too many we know of who were once the superstars of Nana or KC3 for years, long enough to be so called jaded, have eventually left the scene to stay with one man in a LTR and after multiple years have not returned to working as a bar girl or whatever one prefers to call them.

I find it interesting how some guys just have them all totally figured out and want to save everyone else from making the inevitable mistake. They've never made the mistake, but know someone who did, and want to warn everyone else. If ya don't agree with them well you are just wrong and doomed for failure.

I'm still taken aback sometimes by people who want to know what me and Olay actually do between the shagging! Well I bash about on my computer and she watches telly!

There are a lot of compromises that people make though... and it's definitely something you have to want to do rather than something that you feel forced into.

I can't remember the last time I saw a movie that I wanted to see! But then again - the actual movie isn't all that important to me I just like going out with her.

I haven't had a good old Sizzler for yonks because they have no Thai food or anything that Olay would like... but I'm now on a Thai food only diet these days and actually my last trip to MacDonald was a bit of a disaster...

We haven't got much in common. She's spiritual - I'm not.

But we have some things that rise above just tangible comparisons... things that are so strong that makes the language barrier and frequent failures to communicate take a back seat.

I could go on about this for ages... Maybe I'll do a "Comfort Factor II!"

Does she cook for you at all? With the cost of electric to do the cooking, does it really pay for two people to prepare their own meals, rather than eating at the food stalls along the streets?

We NEVER eat food from the streets, ever. Bloody awful dirty crap!

A Thai food only diet...   it's about time...    

I can't imagine having one of the world's best cuisines so readily available & still wanting to eat bland western food every day...

A good old roast meal with all the baked vegetables as a treat occasionally can't be beat, but once you get into the classic larbs & curries, there is no going back.

The single worst meal I had on my last visit was an invitation to the Sizzler in the Royal Garden in Pattaya. It looked good enough, it just had no flavour...    

And McDonalds...         they should all be burnt to the ground IMO but I see all the farangs & the pseudo-cool Thais in there every visit.

How much of a disaster was it & are you ever going back? Or has Olay made you a convert?

The western corporate chains like McDonalds are a blight on the land of the Asian countries. I guess they want to help kill them too, not just the westerners.

I remember when I spent a year '76-'77 at Osan AB, ROK, and the city outside the base Songtan Up was an all Korean town, as in all the businesses there were Korean. Later, things like KFC, McDs, etc began moving in, and IMO ruined the ambiance of the place. Guys who had been there before, and went back after, said it just wasn't the same anymore.

I read a story, very plausible to me, about some farang from a western country, who upon retirement, expatriated to Thailand. He had at the time, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and was carrying too many pounds. When he got settled in Thailand, he went on an all Thai food diet. No other changes, such as meds, or activity level.
After 6 months, his BP and cholesterol were normal and he lost much of the extra weight.
Go to Thailand, eat like a typical Thai = get healthy.

Not sure i agree with this. Every trip i lose weight and power and really need to get back home for some real food to get my power back. I get weak and a bad stomach in Los.
And kahuna told me what the real thais eat up in Timbuk 2 , Issan, and that is not healty at all.

Maybe its good for overweight ppl to live in Los.

Have you considered the change in routine from what you do at home?

I know I am not out every night at home drinking & screwing. That lifestyle will wear anyone out and has little to do with a change in diet.

More likely you are not eating the healthiest options. Eating off the street every day will make you sick sooner or later. The guys staying in LOS long term develop an immunity to cope with the bugs that cause the stomach upsets but god help someone on a short holiday.

Especially if they suffer from leaky gut syndrome!!

That allows parasites to pass from the bowel into the blood stream & will cause weight loss, loss of strength & stamina & left unchecked, can kill you.

I should know - just such a thing made me very sick for 18 months. I lost so much weight, everyone thought I had cancer.

But I still love Thai cuisine & I find that the raw vegetables & the light healthy style of food that Thai cuisine is famous for gives me energy to burn & certainly does not leave me fatigued.

I totally agree with the premise that a Thai food diet will drop weight & improve health outcomes.
