Those Spiders are actually quite tasty. I ate two of them, they taste slightly like Bacon.

fickin gross baron,ive tried the bugs bettles grubs etc in LOS sure a lot of us have but in no way will i eat spiders snake or those fickin scorpions they sell on the streets of pattaya...........first time i saw those scorpions i nearly freaked musta been about 200 of em on a tray..........oh no

interesting all this illness stuff,its good info so keep it coming,ive never had bad tummy etc yet,but what i have had several times is chest infection symptoms,high fever etc,so bad i once ended up intensive care segregation on antibiotic drip for 4 days,i seriously thought ive had malaria several times now but all test so far neg.its interesting to hear that many others get illness during or after LOS.my guess now it mayby comes out differently to our individual weaknesses etc. i.e i am prone to repiratory ailments,but im strong on the lower body area

You'll eat some types of bugs, but not snakes? I do not know about tropical snakes, but rattlesnake meat when fried doesn't taste far from chicken. It is delicacy in cowboy country.

I'm curious as to how many fellows here, have tried "tuck a tan" when offered it by their Issan GF.

I googled it, and none of the web sites on the first couple of pages appear to offer a homeopathic version  for sale from the USA.

I have no idea if it is available in LOS. I doubt it though.

Of course you can't buy it in the States, it would never get past the FDA.

The only source I can find it is Germany where they are light years ahead on this type of thing. I bought mine in Oz from a place here that imports it.

With the advances in treatment in tropical illness I would be surprised if there isn't anything more efficacious available today. Though Okoubasan is derived from the bark of the Okoubaka tree & is considered a wonder drug.

I hope I never have to prove it.

An interesting documentary on Malaria & 2 Aussie guys who died from it was shown on TV a few years ago. Despite the best medical attention they couldn't be saved after contracting it while living on an Asian island off the Malaysia west coast.

I looked it up on a map & it was no more than 200 kilometres south of Phuket, not close if you are walking but next door biologically speaking.

As for whether it would be allowed for sale here would depend on how it was classified, a drug, or simply a herbal nutritional supplement.

Our FDA though is pretty much wacked in a lot of ways, so nothing would surprise me on what they would and won't allow.

By far the sickest I've ever been in my life was after eating seafood in Bkk, Feb 2006.
I puked every 30-60 mins for 24 hrs. Had the shits for 3 days. If I had been thinking straight, I'd have went back to that fucking restaurant and puked on their floor.

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the stats on diseases in Phuket and Koh Samui were faked or at least "doctored".
How much millions do those two islands contribute to Thailand's revenues?

Unfortunately many areas still pump raw sewage into the sea without treatment. So, if you wonder why seafood can make people sick especially around Phuket and Pattaya, the reasons become fairly clear.
