In my trips to Thailand, I've done each scenario. Contact beforehand, stayed with one lb for 3 weeks and had a great time.
I've also done the opposite, and arrived with no set plan other than where I made my room reservation, and that turned out fine too.
I've never had anything but a great time on every trip I've made there, no matter which way I went about it.

If some guys want to paint all bar girls with the same broad brush, up to them. I know they are not all the same. Too many we know of who were once the superstars of Nana or KC3 for years, long enough to be so called jaded, have eventually left the scene to stay with one man in a LTR and after multiple years have not returned to working as a bar girl or whatever one prefers to call them.

I find it interesting how some guys just have them all totally figured out and want to save everyone else from making the inevitable mistake. They've never made the mistake, but know someone who did, and want to warn everyone else. If ya don't agree with them well you are just wrong and doomed for failure.

The original question. The answer is "Yes".

Any person that offers sexual services for renumeration is technically a prostitute.

However that is where things get a little grey!

In Thailand a GG or LB is raised in a village and is informed that the streets of Pattaya and Bangkok (Phuket less so) are paved with Gold (Farang!).

In Thailand Sex does not carry the same stigmata associated with the West. In Asia sex is 'functional'.

Whether or not you rate the GG's/LB's in Thailand as prostitutes does not exempt them from treatment as Human Persons.

In fact I think they are brilliant - they put up with over weight, obnoxious Farangs who are often too drunk to get their trousers off, nightly, and give them the Girl Friend Experience they could never expect in their own country.

So a little respect, on our part, whether we be Mongers or not, does not cost a great deal. If you want a meat market then "shag a sheep" back home.

Certainly the GG/LB's in Thailand are far more attractive and accommodating than some overweight "buffalo" in the West - think of all that cellulite - perish the thought!!!!

But, as many have said here, treat them as humans and the way they treat you. During my 4 year sojourn in Bangkok I had three ladies live with me (before I discovered the lb scene), all from bars. I should add not all at the same time, I'm not superhuman or a billionaire. The first left when she got drunk one night, accused me of being with another girl (I was in bed alone and asleep) and damaged my car. So I kicked her out but we have met since, still friends, and she is now heavily into the religion thing.
The second I had to leave when my work visa expired. Subsequently she met a Swiss guy, married him and moved to Zurich. The third was when working in Asia, but not in LOS, and ended when she asked for a 50,000 Baht engagement ring. Overall, I have been lucky with my Bar Girls, and I prefer that term to the other, which brings to mind those druggies in the Western cities working for pimps. And, that is one major difference in that most Thai girls are 'freelancers', their takings go to help their families. Of course, you could say their families are the pimps. The other is the GFE gotten from Thai girls instead of the 'hurry, times up, get out' attitude in the West.

D33 i like your point. i think thailand is almost a right of passage for the modern man in a money hungry pay for pussy in one way or another culture .. the goal you should be looking for is to realize that happiness isnt as easy as fucking everything u see, i mean were all sexual repressed a little and to get this out of your system is not the worst of things, so u get jaded in the process, who alive with a mature perspective isnt jaded? but to get involved with theese girls and send money and possibally marry one u must be a fool or as the philospheer nietzche says, ''why is it when i see people buying things i always see the so much shrewdness, however many a man buys his wife in a sac?'' do u think becuase you bought there pubic ass in a bar for the night and spent two weeks getting drunk and hearing ''my friend u, your friend me'' and ''u airport'' or observing how they play cards before they go to work to see what kind of john there going to pic up for the nite that u got something to build a life on then think again. theese girls have hard lives and really make it look easier then it is i believe, just pay them well, treat them well and remember that your everywere they work at long before you came and long after u left-
