Nowhere in Johnson's works or letters, or contemporary biographies of him, do the phrases "remain silent" or "remove all doubt" appear in anything close to this context. In fact, the words "silent" and "fool" never appear together in a sentence.

In addition to Johnson, many other people are supposed to have said this. Sometimes people cite Abraham Lincoln; or a journalist named Silvan Engel or sometimes it's attributed to "Lincoln, quoting Silvan Engel." Oy. Every place is different and folks are dfferent and the alchemy is in making the differentiations make sense. I would like to disagree with Foxxee but there is a commercial bit to this. Some of the ladies out there are lovely, sweet and fun to be with, on or off the meter,and some are only that on the meter. I have had the supreme blessing of only having had to enjoy their loveliness when all is well. Over-generalizing is a curse, but the ladyboys do the same and sell that as a countervailing blessing. I like both but find filipinas to be so much more enjoyable to speak with over dinner or snacks in bed. I will not comment on looks because I do not believe it is as easy as stated.

I could still never spend more than an hour or 2 with a Thai lady or ladyboy, hell I can barely spend any more time than that with ''anyone'' but if I am having someone in my company it's not going to be some barbie doll playing with her phone [or worse, her hair] and just smiling that stupid-looking smile with zero to say. PI girls you can at least talk to and converse with about every- day things; I have only met a handful of Thai's like that and since sex only lasts maybe an hour per day I'll be damned if I am spending another 23 with 'em driving myself crazy.

See the thing is Shaggy, and I am going to assume you are a PI ladyboy here, is that you are conditioned to believe that laziness and begging are socially and ethically ok. No Shaggy, in most countries it is not ok. If I hear one more Filipino bleating about the lack of opportunieites compared to elsewhere I will puke. But you lot shoot yourselves in the foot don't you? You got to have a scam, don't you? Lets use education for an example:

You have good education possibilities, but you then degrade the very process, by selling degrees and qualifications out the back door, rendering the persons who have worked hard for the same bit of paper with qualifications that are essentially worthless. (or they have to requalify). It is harder for Filipino nurses and dentists to get work than ever before. Why? becuase you blew it with selling qualifications. You bloody idiots.

I stood in the Panamanian Embassy in Singapore one day, and watched a Merchant Navy Master come in with the crew books of his Filipino Officers and Engineers. 6 out of the 10 were fraudulent (The panama embassy can check numbers etc) leaving the Captain without a crew. he was not happy.

Begging and bleating on the internet shows your country for the piss poor Nigeria of Asia that it is. If you lot put in the same hours on the internet doing many of the free learning courses etc that are available then I might have some respect for you.

Get some fucking pride. And stop voting for the latest movie star or big 5 family members. Maybe then some of the money that disappears might go into education and training.

Actually Alan I did exactly that.

I posted about education, the selling of degrees and qualifications etc. It was a lucid argument with a personal experience thrown in.

The Philippines has become the cyberbegging capital of the world. They have the rare combination of Asian looks and the ability to speak rudimentary English. There are a lot of captain save-a-ho's out there who think that they are helping the girl/ladyboy out by sending money to a person they never met in real life and likely will never meet.

People have to understand the group/clannish mentality of Filipinos. There is always someone in the group that is assertive and productive who can support the entire group, whether its family, a barcada or just roomates. This is the reason why nepotism is so prevalent in the PI. Filipinos hire other Filipinos simply because they are family or from the same barangay. It happens here in the USA, where a supervisor at a government office will convert the office into a "Filipino only" office overnight and then wonder why they are fired for improper hiring practices based upon discrimination.

Filipinos have also become complacent and lazy because 20% of the population works abroad and sends "libre pera" to their relatives who simply need to wait around the house, drink Red Horse, go to the internet cafe and wait for the next Western Union installment.

It's the only culture and group of people who will straight up ask you, "my birthday is coming up, what will be my pasalubong(gift)?" They actually instruct you to get them a gift...its not a joke. They may mask it as if they are kidding but underneath that facade is a real lack of understanding of ethics and morality. It's a duplicitous culture because its Catholic and Asian...a dangerous combination. Just commit any sins and lie and cheat and scam and then go to confession with the priest and walang problema....clean hands. You will hear scammers and cyberbeggars described as clever and smart.

Its not always the womens fault though. Filipino men are the laziest motherfuckers on the planet. You will go to the countryside and see only women working construction and in the fields while the men are passed out in their trikes from drinking Red Horse all day. Most of the overseas workers are women. Women work their asses off while men are just worthless. If the men in the PI worked as hard as the women, the country would be wealthy.

Filipinos are the fat lazy dog that constantly comes back for more food after you gave them table scraps the first time...only this time, they expect a steak.

An example: Snejana has a moniker on her yahoo account that asks for "donations" to her Europe trip from total strangers. This is just absurd and she doesnt see anything wrong with it. Filipno ladyboys and girls like to label begging and scamming as "gifts" and "donations" to take away the sting.

Filipno girls and ladyboys can be so sweet and kind but eventually they drop the bomb and ask for money. If you dont pay up, they may act like its no problem but eventually they just ignore you as you are no longer a mark. They will eventually come around and make up some sort of medical emergency. This is the last test. If you dont pay, they will call you kuripot and ignore you forever. I dont deal with them anymore other than to find them, fuck them and flee.
