  • Patong beach hotel?

Anyone got a recommendation for a lb friendly hotel on Patong beach with a pool, 3-4 star.

Stayed at Baan Laimai last time and they tried to charge me a joiner fee - fuck that.

Has anyone stayed at Coconut Village??.....1200 per night including breakfast and looks a nice place

I get no joiner fee at Baan Laimai when booked through my travel agent, and the rate is actually a bit lower; I paid 2200 for a beautiful pool-side room there in May. Also, if you enter through the rear parking lot where you park your scooter there is no desk to pass by and therefore no joiner fee if no one sees you!

nice alternative; Patong Villa on the beach road, about 5 minutes walk from soi Katoey. they DO have a joiner fee of 300 per night, but the rooms are nice there and only 1300 baht, so figure 1600 if you have a 'date' every night. those are the 2 best places I have found in Patong beach.

I booked through latestays.com and got 1400 last month. I specifically said no joiner fee and the e-mail back said "1400 per room". Brought a girl back the first night, not past reception, and they still saw it tried to add it as I checked out.

Needless to say. Scottish tact and diplomacy won the day!

atta boy, Stewart......let them have it! I hate joiners fees just on principle; they don't do it in BKK and rarely in Pattaya so why do they have them in Phuket? I wouldn't mind if Patong Villa just charged the 1600 and left me and my guests alone on the way in.

Samui sometimes gives the ladyboy guests hassles as well. I stayed at a place in December of which the name escapes me right now, for 12 days with a ladyboy and we had no problems. until about 5 days in, when we were telling other ladyboys where we were staying and they would say 'we can't go there; no ladyboys allowed'. turned out the pussies that ran this craphole would not let in ladyboys on a one-night-off visit, but when a farang comes down from Bangkok with one for 12 days and is paying 2000 a night for his bungalow, they have no problems at all with that. fucking hypocrites.

Patong Villa is good and if you get the night security guard a coke every now and then he will "look the other way" when you come back with a Ladyboy or Lady, but I have not been there in almost three years so it might of changed ( the night guard liked Ladyboys)

            Hey Stewart,
Have you given up on the "Sansabai bungalows" , I will be in Patong in about 10 days and was thinking of staying there on one of your recommendations in an older post, interested to know if there are better options.
            cheers

the only thing to be careful about with this place is that they had a MASSIVE construction project going on while I was there in January with blue ballz, directly next to the hotel. sleep was impossible with the noise starting at 7AM and lasting till 7PM.

the room they gave me was small and crappy and the A/C was so-so. the "pool" is 100 yards down the road and even though we had a pass to use it, it was literally full and they wouldn't let us in to swim! Huh?

needless to say that lasted one night; for 1100 baht there are better places that are closer to the beach with an actual pool on the premises. San Sabai does have one good feature; the bungalows are detached from the main lobby and the staff can't see who is coming and going from your room, so no joiner fee.

come up with 400 or 500 more per night and stay at a better place closer to the beach like Patong Villa; it will be worth it.

                Thanks Jai Dee,
That was the info I required , I will look into Patong Villa, sounds like this may be a better option and at least the pool is on the premises. Ahhh not long now the countdown has begun,Bkk on Tuesday night, look out Cascades....

yup, you really can't go wrong there for 1300, even if you have to pay the *%#*&# joiner fee of 300 per night. It is literally across the street from beautiful Patong beach, and the rooms are nice and big and cozy.

To get an idea of how close the pool is from your room [not 100 yards down the road and too full to use], realize that this pic of Golf was taken from the doorway of my room there; pool is in background, just about 10 feet away.

another pic of Golf and the pool area at Patong Villa; my room was to the right of  where she is sitting,  about 3 feet away.

no idea about those 2, but I have heard that the Holiday Inn right on the beach won't accept ladyboys. if you want a 4-star place that is ladyboy-friendly or any guests basically, try the Royal Paradise; it is right in the heart of the gay area of patong and they have probably seen it all.

Sansabai are OK, but better places. I will be at Coconut Village in a few weeks. 1390 per night for 3 night deal, including breakfast, dinner, and pick up from airport.

I was there 6 weeks ago and it was STILL going on. Definitely avoid Sansabai for the moment
