When Sly was in that movie with Sharon Stone, where he was an explosives expert, they had a really hot sex scene in the shower and Sly was decidedly shorter than Stone was, and there was really nothing done to hide it.

Apparently, Clint is another big name star who is shorter than he appears in the movies. I was told that he had a deal whenever he was in a western, that they had to lower the saloon doors for his scenes entering through them, so he would look taller.

Yeah, I just checked and Clint was said to be 6'4" at his tallest, but now as he's gotten older he is down to 6'-6'1"
Still not short. I'm gonna jump the dude who asked me that as a trivia question, the thing about which actor had saloon doors lowered to look taller. Clint would not have needed that, even now.
My guesses were Audie Murphy first, then Alan Ladd.
Another friend/coworker said she saw Clint in person in Reno NV, and he wasn't as big overall as he seems to be on the screen, but no exact height was guesstimated by her.

I have my own theory about shorties in the movies ... it's about scale ... if you've ever been on a set, you know that action stars tend to be pretty 'active' ... in a movie, that sense of scale you have in real life is lost, and a hand motion of, say, 3 feet per second is going to look faster on a 5'7" guy than on a 6'7" guy.

BTW, van damme's wives have been pretty athletic ... I think he can probably handle 5 hot trannies
