Watdee Wombatos, I know I have talked with you before your trip in '07. I suggest this time to meet some of the BM's from this site maybe at a place such as Guess Bar and you can then get firsthand info and maybe a tour guide or two while in Bkk. What are your planned dates of travel this coming trip?

I have been trying to think of quiet bars where you could meet guys around Bangkok and at the moment I can't think of any.
Maybe Naang Far can come up with some suggestions - but at the moment I think Surropan has the best ideas.
The other option as Aperry says is to meet up in the Guess Bar. It's not a gogo bar it is just like an ordinary lounge bar - just with ladyboys.
The 'girls' are always friendly to other t-girls - my own girlfriend and Ziggystardust's girlfriend like to go there as they are always made welcome.
As a falang t-girl they will treat you as an honoured guest and they may be able to answer some of the questions you have asked here.

Yes it does actually mean a foreigner of western origin.
I must admit I don't know exactly how the Thai's refer to people of Chinese extraction but I think it's pronounced something like Shiaou.
When they are not sure were the person comes from (ie. mixed extraction) then I do know they refer to them as falang.

Similarly to what Chinese are doing with western foreigners. they (We!!) are called "gweiloh" in Ch. cantonese and "waiguo ren" in Ch. mandarin, plus other versions in different dialects. Oh..and of course "ang mo" in Singaporean Teow Chow chinese
and GaiJin in Japanese..and so on..
All other Asians have their own (more precise) identity according to each country of provenience. We are just a bunch of smelly and ghostly barbarians

Funny, talked to my teerak about this last weekend. We've been to Ko Sichang and there were quite a few chinese tourists. Asked her if they are called farangs, too. No, they are just Chinese she said.
