actually goldmountain is in Texas, he is explaining how he got his latest user name. In reality, Gold Mountain refers to North America, in the days the railroad was being constructed in both US and Canada a large number of Chinese workers were brought over - they referred to North America as "geem saan", Cantonese for gold mountain as they could make a lot more money than they could back in China. They would go back home rich and build mansions, start businesses, etc. with their earnings (if they saved wisely).

My parents are from China, and this is what they've told me along with some history books I've read.

I'm aware about the history of so many Chinese workes being employed for the railroads.
Didn't know they called the USA like that. I just have Mei Guo in mind. So, SF should be Gam Saan..wo bu zhi dao
But as usual RX knows everything

Rxpharm is right. The Chinese were critical to the western construction of the transcontinental railroad. By the mid to late 1800s, about 1 in 8 people in California were Chinese (nearly all male, because we didn't import females for the construction work), out of a total population just under 1 million.

Recall that that time also coincided with gold rush (and attendant Donner, errrr dinner, parties) and there was a fantastical aspect to the activity on this side of the Pacific.

But, let's turn our attention to that sparky little number on the other side of the Pacific, Jaymee.

Retired the top 12.  Need a new dirty dozen.

Update: The new list is coming together: Nong Poy, Anita, Nok, Gif, Liisa Winkler, Kay, Nina Poon.  Is it possible to find 5 more?  Until then, GGs:  Jessica Alba, Yuko Ogura, Zhang Ziyi, Maggie Q, and Gong Li.

(jaymee @ Apr. 24 2008,09:28) ...my close girlfriends tell me he'd be fine with it as long as other people didn't know...
              Jaymee,

Putting aside the employer / employee connundrum, I'm not sure that this SO is the one you're looking for. A SO is someone who accepts you for your faults and supports who you are. In this case, even your friends have to caveat his support. I would be warry of this, but that's just my opinion.

Also, it's been a few weeks now since his discovery, any updates?

                Jaymee,

I assume you believe in Astrology, Virgo's are very detailed oriented people and don't seem to forget/forgive that easily.

What is your own sign, check it out somewhere to see if you, according to this, are compatible in the first place.

Numerology is another way you can look at this, if you are "in" to such thing. It's very accurate.

Work wise, I would, as others have mentioned think twice.

                Cheers,

                PP

I'm afraid you are too optimistic! Quite the opposite, I think, will happen (at least in Europe, where I live), with the Muslim minority gradually taking over. (stogie bear @ Apr. 24 2008,02:43) I'm a Virgo! It takes a certain strength of character (or just recklessness) to give up everything (or even somethings) to make a transgendered relationship work.
So am I Stogie!! And you are exactly right. There is so much to think about and do before even attempting to make something like this work out.

It's not the muslim minority you need to worry about mate. But your god-fearing, fucked-up revangelist christian neighbours!

Just drop the bollocky newspapers for a minute and consider who have been anti-gay the past 40 years. How much influence do you think such a tiny minority of fundamentalist muslims have when there are already so many fundamentalist christians around?

Get a brain (and a backbone) for just a minute and leave your muslim conspiracy theories where they belong, in the toilet!

Don't get suckered by the 'new' christian and patriotic radicals, they're just doing what their grandparents did, and they wre wrong then too!!!!!
