She had just had her boob job and it got me thinking about the need for them to be HIV - for the operation to go forward.
I seem to remember reading that is the case.
I don't know if some hospitals will charge extra if they are HIV+.

Does anyone have any information?

Hello Eltel,

The fact that one parent is HIV+ does not guarantee that a child will be.  In any case the father could have become HIV+ after the child was conceived.

As far as operations go if someone was HIV+ I doubt that most doctors would be crazy enough to proceed witha non-essential operation.

The risk to the medical staff would be too great and could possibly invalidate any insurance they have.
Plus there is also the possibility that the weakened state of the patient's immune system would place a greater risk especially if post-operative complications set in.

It actually depends on the viral load a patient has that affects what risk there is to the medical staff who would be involved in the operation. Some of the new antiretroviral combinations can reduce the viral load to almost zero - meaning minimal risk of transmission.

However there are side effects, some of which can be severe.

Of course an untreated HIV+ patient having a surgical procedure would be too risky for the staff involved.

A working girl probably has an increased chance of contracting an STD than a non worker as we all know.

I got the impression the father had contracted the disease in recent years by not using condoms.

The worrying thing was she said we could go bareback, but don't ejaculate (after I had trouble getting a condom on).

You'd think with the father being +ve she'd be a bit more cautious.

I work with this tiny liie guy from Thailand and he finally admitted to me that yes, he is HIV +. I suspected because of his weight (he's as thin as a pencil). He found out after getting his green card here. His sister died of AIDS and was a sex worker. He said all the Westerners who are taking part in paid sex in Thailand will most likely be banging someone who is HIV+ as about half the girls have HIV and will work until they are sick enough to be noticed, at which time they stop and slowly die.

According to UNAIDS, 24.6% of Men having Sex with Men (that would include ladyboys) in Thailand are HIV positive. This is based on surveys carried out in 2007. This means that there is about a 1 in 4 chance that the ladyboy you are fucking is HIV positive. Be careful out there and always cover up!

I've yet to meet one who went to the hospital to get a test who knew beforehand she was sick. I've had many who didn't want to go test, and you can draw your own conclusions there, but the ones that did go... didn't have a clue.

For those of you who bareback, the only thing I can say is take them to get checked before you take the dip. It will take an hour max, and though there is a window of time where it may not show if they have HIV, it's better than nothing at all.

But most guys on holiday are not f*cking a random sample of Thai men/ladyboys.

They are mostly f*cking sex workers. Perhaps these professionals are more aware of safe sex practices?

So do as Stogie says and ask them if they have AIDS.
