After some advice from Rob69 the ever ready wife and I already had our sites set on Brazil for the next destination (after 6 months in Asia coming up) and Hilda seems like a fantastic guide/interpreter.. Just wondering though, when you say expensive, what sort of rough figures are you talking?

She told me she could offer 3 levels of service:

1. Telephone only. She will make a bunch of calls for you, advise you on who the good girls are and who will steal from you, get the girls you want to your hotel...make it all run smoothly. Send her something by Western Union. I did not ask how much, I wanted more than that. If you don't speak Portugese, Brazil is a scary place, and I guarantee you will strike out entirely with the tgirls. At the very least, use her telephone service.

2. Hilda as your escort. The famous porn stars will charge 250-300 Real plus taxi....that is about US$115-140 for a session. The lesser known girls maybe 150 Reals, and off the streets 50-100 Reals

3. Full-time tour guide. Hilda gets 4-5 customer calls per day on average. I was with her, so I can vouch for that. Do the maths. Hilda was my 24x7 partner, interpreter, tour guide, negotiator, bodyguard, and all round nice person for 2 full weeks. I obviously had to compensate her for lost escort earnings.

But do the maths above. She gets 4-5 customer calls per day - at least she did when I was with her. She was giving that potential up to be with me, and she was not doing that for my good looks!

Would she be able to go with 4-5 clients EVERY day, maybe not, and maybe does not get 300 reals every time (especially from local customers). And my money was guaranteed for 15 straight days.

She also got to spend time with her family when we went to Natal, and with some old friends when we went to Rio. So maybe side benefits there that she allowed for.

But I saw her working the chatrooms and MySpace and things like that...she is VERY popular.

don't flame me here, but I don't speak any portuguese & I do ok, on my trips, but Hilda is a great person & she looked after me too. You just need to be brave out there on the streets its not for the inexperienced thats for sure.
