(deepthroat @ Sep. 22 2010,12:37) Funny, someone mentioned trip insurance or health insurance recently, and my thought was "what a waste of money". Looks like maybe I'd best rethink that.
I ended up going to hospital in KL during my October 2009 trip.
Had to forfeit my KL-Melb airfare and medical costs etc...

In short, make sure you have medical insurance.... your credit card is adequate but read the fine print as some cover only last a few months and you must purchase the flights and accommodation in qualifying percentages

You stubborn FUCKER!!! I told you a dozen times you looked like shit and your self-medication was irrational witch-craft!!! The last time I saw you you looked as white as a ghost and sweating a fever. I did not feel good about it. However after days of unsuccessfully trying to convince you to go home I knew any further badgering would be a waste of breath. Then after not seeing any posts from you since I arrived back home I feared something had happened.

Anyway, I am happy you are getting the attention you need and I am sure you'll be as fit as a fiddle soon. I wish you the best and please muster up the strength to post again. We all miss it

All the best wishes of recovery for you, Pacman!

Is your pneumonia viral or bacterial? (or both?)

Any idea on how you picked it up?
Was the AC in your hotel room clean enough?

                  DT,
Many of us consider you to be an enlightened, fairly well-educated, and intelligent man. If you have already traveled to Thailand and will do so again without proper medical and health insurance we will have to reevaluate. Please do not do it again. It is insane. Shit happens.

I pay $100.00 a year for out of country medical and health coverage. This covers me for all medical needs in the rest of the world (including the US) outside of Canada. It allows me to travel as many times as I want during the year, wherever I want in the world. And it covers me for a maximum of 60 days per trip. I think it is money well spent.

Any excuse to find more LBs - now he goes to hospital to check out the prostrate Pattaya crew.
Some people just cannot get enough....

And he is doing it under insurance.....

Speedy recovery - the Penthouse is now losing money in your absence.

Hope all is well and see you before you return to Oz.

                      P

I was really sorry to hear this news, especially after you had left Perth because the weather there was giving you asthma.

I wish you a full and very speedy recovery

                      Best Wishes

Yeah its one of the decisions you have to make for yourself and cannot follow the crowd.

Its interesting that the prices are astronomical compared to say P.I. Yes I know I keep bringing it up but its only because I've been there.. Recently another friend had pneumonia about 2 weeks back while mongering in Makati and required check into the hospital but as bad as it was, it doesn't sound as bad as paccie and for 2 days the cost was only PHP 6,000 (all inclusive) about $130.

Travel insurance for me when I visit LOS indeed!

Maybe I sound insensitive but its not the case at all. I do care!  But if I had to live my whole life based on how everyone might be sensitive to me.. I would not be living my life as I want it. So you can accept me and my flaws as I am or you can't.

                            Health Insurance

You have to check the small print. It wont cover you in general for any existing maladies obviously and i noticed on mine that things like High Blood pressure and other factors meant that they dont want you. They want your money but they dont like paying out.

If you injure yourself when drunk they also wont pay.

                            Check the small print.

As a brief aside Van Halen always put in there contracts that a big bowl of M&Ms was tp be provided in the Hotel room and in the small print it stated that all the brown ones were to be removed. If the M&MS were not there it meant that the managment had not read the contract and if they were there but the brown ones were not taken out in meant that they had read the contract but not read the small print.

                            best regards Paccers

Unfortunately, I'm not Canadian so at this point there is still no such thing as "reasonably priced medical insurance". Don't think the new Health Care will survive the oncoming Republican sweep of the elections, and even if it does I don't think there's anything about taking care of DT when fucking hookers in Thailand.

                              I'll check around though.

Could I just say I'm you and use yours?

Very interesting evaluation DT. I generally tend to not follow politics closely until it gets time every 4 years for the debates.

But then again prevention is always better than the cure.
