Wonder why a pesticide company doesn't test their new lines of rat poisons in Thailand. So many everywhere. That's why the authorities want to ban sidewalk vendors. Their garbage feeds the pests. Hate that they throw their greasy soups and sauces onto the street next to them. Can't find any trash bins or empty ones along Sukhumvit Street. Got those green bins on Pattaya Beach Walk but nobody shuts the lids. So I have too and everybody cheers me for being smart enough to do so.
I have seen rubbish men wearing flip flops standing in filthy soda pop water trying to stomp the rubbish into smaller compact masses inside the rubbish trucks. Backward country. So many things to improve in my favorite city. Sanitation is a very rare word in 3rd world countries. Maybe Bubonic Plague is the next pandemic.
I own 4 rat bait black plastic housings around my house. Just paint peanut butter on the poison bait and just forget it. Return after a few months and peek if they're gone. Replenish and forget it another few months. No need to clean up the stinky carcasses. They die somewhere else. If the bait is disappearing, that means it's working. Never mind you don't see dead bodies. As long as the bait is consumed it means it will work. Takes a few days or weeks before they die. Helps it you mix some mud and paint the entire housing to kill the human smells. Even better with spoiling garbage to attract their sensitive nosy noses. Try covering the boxes with leaves and trash so nobody can see the rats. Do NOT plant rat poison INDOORS! I did so once and the garage stunk badly. Couldn't even find the source. Use rat traps instead. If using the Victor traps use dried fruit tied with dental floss. Other traps have a deep dish into which you scoop in peanut butter. Again place them under or next to rubbish where no one can see the traps. Use boxes, dirty lumber, leaves, branches, etc. Think like a filthy rat to catch one.

Oh yeah. Might be a good idea to be generous at first like place some good unpoisoned food. Let the rodents get overconfident. When you notice the food disappearing then load the poison stuff. This a funny and clever video about choosing what rodents like to eat.
So try buy some Tootsie Roll and some Creamy Peanut Butter. Plant some around the house on a cardboard covered with a box with cut out entry holes. If eaten, then bait the traps and go away. Remember wear gloves and do not stain anything with human scents. I would wash all traps that have killed their prey. Wooden ones should be thrown away or covered with really stink garbage. Plastic ones can be washed, dried, and again dirtied up with mud or garbage. Happy hunting/killing.

The rats in Thailand are not just because of food vendors. Garbage collection and disposal is very slow and inefficient like many third world countries.
The first time I visited Thailand I was having a meal at an outdoor restaurant on Soi 4 at Soi 6 in Nana after the bars.
First i was disgusted because I ordered a seafood and egg dish and they put the shells in there too. While I was trying to eat this I felt rats scurrying around my feet.
One time I walked up Sukhumvit from Nana to On Nut at 3am and it was disgusting. It wasn't really dangerous but their was garbage piled up on the sidewalk and everywhere most of the way. This is many kilometers. There was rats running around everywhere from pile to pile. You don't notice this much if you take cabs around.
It seems they tend to clean up the tourist areas before they start removing garbage from other areas.
Bubonic plague probably exists in Thailand. However Bubonic Plague was found in the homeless encampments in California because they have a third world rat and filth problem in most of the state.
A resident of South Lake Tahoe, California, has tested positive for plague, the state’s first case of the highly infectious disease — known as the “Black Death” dur…
According to Calif. Governor (and former San Francisco Mayor) Gavin Newsom, the “vast majority” of San Francisco’s homeless people “also come in from… Texas.” To him, that’s “just an interesting fact;” to PolitiFact, it’s “Pants on Fire” inaccurate. PolitiFact goes as far as calling it “ridiculous.”
And in China, of course.
A 3-year-old boy in China has been infected with Bubonic plague. Also known as 'black death,' the disease caused a major outbreak in 2009. here's everything you need to know about the deadly plague.

That is making me hungry. Not only can't i go eat all the variety of foods in Thailand, it is getting really hard to eat out even at home.
Food deliver is ok but nothing beats eating out.
In Bangkok my GF always wanted to stay home and order through Food Panda. Ordering in is good sometimes but usually in Thailand I like to go out and see what new or better place I can find to eat. I think she wanted me to have less exposure to predatory ladies and ladyboys....
Food Panda does deliver street food too.
