Le Stroganoff is definitely worth a visit, even though the wine is disappointing. Hopf, on the opposite corner of Soi 13/1, is a German style beer hall that brews its own beer and serves good pizzas. Live music most evenings.
The Sportsman in Soi 6 does a very good English breakfast as does the Queen Vic in the same soi. You can also get great sausages in batter there.
There's a steakhouse almost opposite Longhorn that I believe sells even better steaks at roughly the same price. The Belgian restaurant in the same arcade does have good food, but Harry's Bar, one soi up along Second Road, serves the same beers at lower prices and has a few Belgian dishes on the menu.
There's a very nice Austrian restaurant in the alley a few doors up from Limmatquai Bar (which if memory is right is very close to Soi Diamond).
I thought the new menu at Shennanigans was so mediocre a few weeks ago that I didn't bother ordering. Jamesons, which is quite a long way up a soi opposite Soi 6 is much better for Irish pub type food.
Has anyone tried Zico's, the churasco restaurant in the Central Complex on Beach Rd?
Savoey seafood is good, not great, but good.
In general it's not expensive, but ask the price of items labelled 'market price'.
Check your order, we got an extra soup and the wrong fish.
It's a good choice for a big group, and a plus is no corkage fee if you bring your own wine.
hey can anyone recommend a great local Thai restuarant in Pattaya. I went to one with a friend who owns a nail/massage place long ago and I forget where it was since she drove but it was all local people and it was an open outdoor hall with great Thai food and it had a roof on it but I forget where it was or the name. Any advice?
Don't forget our duck place in Soi Day Night. a nice tasty meal for 35 baht.

"Inflexibility is the worst human failing. You can learn to check impetuosity, overcome fear with confidence and laziness with discipline. But for rigidity of mind, there is no antidote. It carries the seeds of its own destruction." ~ Anton Myrer
Just visit any bar having a party - usually food starts at 8.00pm so get in early for the full fresh buffet.
This not only applies to the LB bars but many other watering holes - one indication is the bar will have balloons outside. Take a look at Soi 6, 7, 8 during late afternoon and note which bar has balloons put up.
The only downside is that many bars select the same fare - BBQ Pig - so it can become a bit monotonous.
The restaurant "La Petite Planète" is situated between "la cuisine au beurre" and "Mosaik apartments" in Soi Day/night next to Tukcom.
The cook is french from Strasbourg and his name is Pierre.
The choice "a la carte" is very limited, but the set menu is changed daily and is very tasty.
Pierre cooks the "difficult" stuff himself, so he will disappear in the kitchen to prepare your meal.
I can say he really knows what he's doing.
I ate the country-style liver pastry (excellent, very fresh and obviously home made) and had a real "entrecôte", cooked rare, with garlic butter.
The butter he does himself with cognac and a bit of worcester sauce. You can taste the difference from the first bite.
Price is very afforable and will be around 305 baht for the set menu + one chang.
If 3-4 friends visit the restaurant with me, we get a special platter of assorted french country starter dishes.
You can also have the famous snails in garlic butter.
The food I ate today was miles ahead in taste and authenticity of everything in Pattaya claiming to be "french cuisine"
P.S. I have to add to this the crucial information that I am french.
Also if you just fancy a sandwich "La Petite Planète" do very nice open Baguetts that you make up yourself at your table. approx 85 Baht and delicious.

yes, if Pierre the manager is there, you can get excellent Sandwiches made with Pate or Rillettes.
Forget the club sanwiches, ham sandwiches or other tuna stuff, Pierre will make very tasty sandwiches for you.
Every day from 11:00 until 17:00 the restaurant also offers "Rillettes de Canard" (also homemade) on black bread.
