Places to eat in Pattaya...

The Blue Parrot in Soi Pattayaland II serves fab Mexican cuisine, certainly the best in Pattaya and way better than Tequilla Reef or the restaurant at the Jasmine Hotel.

Another place for fine dining at a reasonable rate is Chez Georges on Third Rd, around 200 meters from the junction of South Pattaya Rd, on the right hand side as you head north. A fabulous 3 course set meal for 395 baht under the supervision of a culinary genius.

I didn't waste all my 6 months in Pattaya last year shagging ladyboys, managed to get around 50+ different restaurants by night as well

Good choice, have not been to pattaya for a couple of years but i ate there quite often, incidently it was a thai who took me there in the first place.

Absolute bollocks!!

IMHO Korean food some of the nicest around.
BKK has some really nice restaurants, but i am yet to find anything passable in Pattaya.

And any decent place will cook the food for you at your table so you know its fresh - it should not be self service - ever.

At the very bottom of walking street, in front of the clare de lune hotel is an open restaurant. Up to a couple of years a go, i would have said they serve the best shrimp rice anywhere. This place is opposite espace francise hotel and the small french consulate. This could have all changed now as 2 years is a long time in pattaya.
Although this place is attached to a small independent hotel the atmosphere was good,as the thai ladies cooking and serving had made the place there own, and in the evenings it was comical as they start to have a drink and loosen up a little. Hope it is still there in october with the same girls cooking.

Down the road from this place just past the 7/11 (opposite the pier) there is some little shacks, selling live crab,shrimp/prawn and other seafood, they will cook for you and give you the various strengh chilli condiments to take away. Nice to have somthing fresh that has not been led on ice in the blistering heat for hours!!
Again this info is 2 years out of date- could be a hotel there now. Lol.

The best food I have tasted in Pattaya is from CUCUMBER, on Pattaya Tai across from the soi going to Day-Night Hotel. It is about 50 meters before Tutcom Mall, but on the opposite side of the street. Great Thai food and even better western food at a fair price in a great, non p4p atmosphere.

Sportsman Pub ( I believe that is the name) on Soi 13, next door to Sandy Spring Hotel. They have an excellent carvery on Sundays which is a litle expensive but it is good.

Au Bon Payne-Used to be in Royal Garden but I believe that they moved to the new mall at entrance to Soi 13.

Sizzler-great "spricy" chicken.

Hard Rock Hotel-great burgers.

Burger Denmark-the little carts that they have around town

I'm referring to those Koren BQ places where you COOK your own food...

You are obviously referring to some other type of Korean restaurant...

If you enjoy going eating at any restaurant where they charge top baht and then having to cook your own food...your taste differs greatly from mine... Enjoy...

My post is more to the point that i have never been to a Korean restaurant (and i have visited 200+ times) where i have had to cook the food....

I'd be curious to know where you have been that just put the food on your table, walked away, and expected you to cook it yourself

Incidentally, if your LB partner picks up the tongs and starts cooking the food herself, then of course, no one will do it for you... which Naang Fa is indicating is a frequent occurrence with the ladyboys.

btw i am more than happy to stand corrected if such places exist in , and feel free to name them so we know where to avoid

why do us brits go to los and eat all day breakfasts and pie and chips? I eat in pattaya most nights at The Green Tree up top of beach road near a-one hotel. Good thai food and jugs of draft Singha. Have Elvis on some nights. Good for a laugh with your lb.

Have taken few tilacs up there too its nice relaxin in Green Tree live music and open air tables away from the madness of WS.

Service bit slow but the foods nice and share a jug o beer wiv ur Lb while u stare into her jugs is cool.


And i thought i was the only farang to take an LB gf there!!!!

Another good nosh in pattaya is the old fried bug . Have a few singhas and then dive in. Always impresses your tilac.

In answer to an earlier question, I believe Cabbages & Condoms was opened in BKK by a charity in the 80s, when AIDS became big news. The idea was to promote awareness and use of condoms. They used to give them away free from a big bowl by the pay desk- don't know if they still do.

Here are some of my favourites in Pattaya:

The Italian place on Beach Road at the bottom of 13/1 (or maybe 13/2), I think it's called the Spaghetti Factory. Ironically it's right next door to a shitty Pizza Hut. Good, plain, well cooked pasta and terrific thin crust pizza. The house wine sold in carafes and half carafes is OK and good value. I eat there a lot. It's also great for people watching as you can sit outside.

The Sportsman for a toasted cheese and ham sandwich. Actually, make that two. A nice afternoon snack.

The Indian right next door to La Bodega and opposite Malibu cabaret. Best in Pattaya, I reckon. One night in La Bodega a few BGs were saying they didn't like Indian food. I went next door, bought half a dozen curries and a load of naans and took them back to the bar. They were gone in under five minutes.

For really good, dirt cheap Thai food, there's a little shack with no name on Soi Buakhao, dead opposite Pook Bar. A girl took me there years ago and I always go back. Funnily enough, Somchai was just talking about it on another forum. He was saying that the LBs from Pook go there a lot, so you might even see something you fancy that isn't on the menu.

For a treat, Casa Pascal on 2nd Road, set just back off the main street. Very elegant place and genuinely world class cooking, especially the seafood. The Sunday buffet lunch is fantastic. Not cheap, but a quarter of what you'd pay for that standard of food and surroundings in Europe.

And one more vote for Patrick's Belgian restaurant. Try the rabbit stew with beer and prunes. Delicious!
