Hi!
Well, I finally managed to plan my "escape" from work and will be going to Phuket in December.
Anyone stayed at the Sansabai Bungalows (but in the Delux rooms)? They have free rooms, and are the only ones that replied to my e-mail enquiries...
And, will anyone be in PAtong beach between the 18th and 22nd December? Want to grab a beer and a few girls? Drop me a line.
Will fill in a trip report when I get back.

nice job, Rollie..........you are going to the best place on earth. Stewart can tell you more about San Sabai if he is reading this; he stays there often.

great city; wish i was there right now. next time i go to phuket the camera stays home and i will just be a tourist; i am always working there and miss out on all the fun!

Be careful which type of place at Sansabai you stay at.

They have bungalows, and they have condos/apartments. They are in different parts of Patong, so you need to understand the differences and then make an informed choice.

I have stayed at the BUNGALOWS several times. The thing I like is that these are bungalow units set in gardens, and you do not have to go anywhere near reception to go back and forward from your room. No hassle at all. No joiner fee.

There are some bungalows that are semi-detached, others are completely standalone. Fridge, aircon and/or fan, TV, own kitchen, nice big rooms, etc, etc. Very reasonably priced as well. I think I paid 1800 at high season for a completely standalone unit, and less than 1000 low season.

The bungalows are about 2-3 minutes walk from the Shark disco at the non-beach end of Soi Bangla. If you are like Jon, and like to stumble out of your hotel right onto the beach, this is not what you get at Sansabai.

On the other hand, you are also at the end of Bangla where Cocktails and Dreams is and the Koh Joy Restaurant is. Because it is 2 minutes from the Shark end of Bangla, it is also a damn sight quieter than all the places on the beach!

I have never stayed at the condos, but they look very nice from the website. BUT, the key thing to realise is where they are located. They are NOT walking distance from the beach or Bangla. They are on the road to Karon and Kata Beach at the South end of Patong. (I think they must be close to Simon€™s Cabaret?). If you don€™t mind a tuk tuk or taxi ride back and forward to the beach/Bangla, I am sure they are very nice. Myself, I prefer the proximity and privacy of the bungalows

Thanks for the infos.
I sent an e-mail, asking for the location of the room, if it is in the Soi Sansabai or if it is elsewhere... Unfortunately, they did not have any bungalows available for the dates I am there, and proposed instead an air-con deluxe room...

If that doesnt' work out, I am thinking of trying out the Expat hotel. Or, does anyone have any better suggestion? I am operating on a pretty tight budget as I plan to get at least 3 days worth of diving (not to mention the "girls").

Hi Rollie !!

The Expat hotel is ok I stay there 2 times guestfriendly ,and not so fare from soi Bangla , a good quiet place only 200 m from Tiger entertainment.
I be in Phuket from 9 Dec.- 2 Jan. Maybe we meet in
' Cocktail's and 'dreams ' one day ?
