  • Phuket Hotel Recomendation

Anyone have a recommendation for a good hotel in Patong ?

I don't need anything fancy, just good location (i.e. near Soi Bangla ), clean, not too expensive and NO JOINER FEE

I stayed at "The Place to Stay", which is formerly Koh Joy Guest House.

Location is excellent and the rooms are quite nice. The drawback it is up a set of stairs, so if you are drunk, it might be hard to navigate.

    Here is the link:

    The Place to Stay, Phuket

There was another guest house across the street from The Place to Stay that looked interesting. The Liontchai Guesthouse. Rates were a bit better, but they had free computers with unlimited ADSL internet connection. They have a limit of one free guest at a time though, so no threesomes.

I might try them the next time I visit Phuket - the rooms are also upstairs so the same advice applies re: being drunk and trying to navigate them.

    Liontchai Guest House

Both of these are located in the Royal Paradise Complex just a few minutes walk away from Soi Bangla.

I have stayed at Koh Joy also many times when Nick owned it and then after it changed ownership. Location wise can't really get better as you are 3 minutes from Bangla Rd walking and if you stay in room 2 you to see all the ladyboys walking back to their rooms around the paradise area.

Not to mention you are maybe 2 minutes from Tangmo cabaret. Rooms are clean and good value. No pool but hey you have to Royal Paradise for I think 100 baht and the beach about 5 minutes away.

Bangla House right opposite Cocktails & Dreams. There are some pictures of the rooms somewhere here posted by Ozzie, taken by me.

        Just searched. Here it is

            Snick,

I was very happy in a Superior Room at the Rendezvous.
The Standard Rooms are quite small though. Low floor is better as their is no lift.

Same same location as The Place To Stay.

No pool but you can use pool at Royal Paradise for 100 baht , a minute away.

Rooms are nicer than they appear on the website.

Don't be put off by it billing itself as a hotel, you never see the other guests.

Very private and discreet, more like an apartment at hotel. No joiner fee, no one sees you going in at night.

I liked it allot and would stay again.

Does by any chance somebody know a nice hotel - something like huts on the water, maybe on piles - in Phuket. I never stay in such things and it's actually also not for me, but for friends - a couple - who're looking more for the romantic factor than for some raunchy nights with hookers. Therefore I'm thinking more on a spot off Patong beach.

                  Cheers,
                  MK

If you are still reading, Cape Panwa hotel is very discreet and romantic. It is off the beaten path but it is for relaxing not really partying. It is privately owned and the staff is the nicest we have ever seen. A little rustic but has a private beach and is nice. They have a web page.

but I've stayed in Club Bamboo...rustic but very nice and friendly staff and romantic
and far enough away, yet close enough to enjoy...

Not in Phuket, but Ban Ploy Samed on Ko Samet is the cheap charlie version of Tahiti overwater bubgalows.
