Which hotels in Patong beach don't have surcharge?

Hi all,
(been on this board before, but I forgot my id) doh

anyways I'm headed to Phuket in 2 weeks
just finalizing my plans now,
haven't booked a hotel yet
I heard that a number of hotels charge extra fees when you bring back a "guest"

Can you guys recommend a decent hotel in Phuket (specifically in Patong Beach area)

I stayed there myself earlier in the year, and wouldn't hesitate to book there again in the future.

Close to all the action, reasonably priced and no reception desk to screen your company for the evening.

Not sure if they have any vacancies, as things are starting to get busy, but worth a try.

I was able to find

Looks to be 1/4mile from Patong beach (or where the action is)?
Is that right? if so is there any place closer to the "action"?
I'd rather avoid having to take a cab/3wheeler to and form the hotel constantly

It's walking distance to all the "action", so not sure what you were looking at.

When you say action, I presume you mean bars with ladyboys ?

It's right next to the action, & a good place to stay, but it is not a hotel, it's serviced apartments. It's a matter of choice if you wanted to stay there or a place with a pool, cafe, bar, etc....

Another alternative which is closer to the beach & has a pool would be Patong Villa.

Have stayed there myself as have quite a few guys from the forum.

Is also ladyboy friendly from my experience.

Patong Villa definitely LB friendly but a little bit "jaded" these days - excellent location if you want to spend time at the beach though

Safari Beach Club is expensive but I loved it. I got one of the rooms "across the road" right on the beach, and since it's not a part of the main hotel there's no lobby to walk through, just go down an alley, up a flight of stairs and there's the door to your room. It's almost directly at the beach end of Bangla Road.

  There is no better located hotel as far as both beach & Soi Bangla are concerned than the Safari Beach.

Everyone I have directed there has enjoyed it. I must try it myself sometime...      

And a note to Goldfinger, a walk of a 1/4 mile is nothing compared to what you will be walking every day in Patong. What are we talking of? 5 minutes walking if that?..

doesn't have a pool or gym (but neither does Patong Villa) but I stayed at Yorkshire Inn last time in Phuket - no problem with bringing back guests and free wifi included. Also, very short walk to C&D .... which is good!


Actually, if I remember correctly, you do get access to a pool on same soi
