(Stewart @ Jul. 08 2009,22:59) The only problem right now is that that massive construction project is going on behind the side sois off Bangla. If you plan to go to the beach all day, no problem. But if you plan to stay beside the hotel pool, or take an afternoon nap, it is like living in an earthquake. I had to leave after 2 days last week.

(Snick @ Aug. 06 2009,08:12) Just got back from Phuket, and I'd like to thank everyone for their suggestions -- even though I ignored all of 'em
For this trip I wanted a real hotel (which ruled out The Place to Stay, and Lionchai), pool, good location, etc..
What I found was the Aspery Hotel - and it was great.
Its about two block north of Bangla, a 5 minute walk, 3 minutes for those in a rush. Its also 2 minutes to the Beach. No problems at all with bringing back guests, and the staff seemed to like the LBs. Pool on the roof is very nice.
Best of all, its about 1000 Baht a night thru Agoda,Asia rooms or other sites. Weekly rates are also available.
Its also one of those hotels where everything worked, no troubles checking in/out, WiFi worked, no problems with the room. A large LCD TV and a DVD player are also included.
The hotel gives out towels for those heading to the beach.
I'll be back

is there any space for parking a rental car ?
me heading there this weekend...and thinking of K hotel, due to location...but for 1000 bath and 5 minutes to Bangla..aspery might be a good choice after all...

I'm a fast walker, but really no problem walking at all. Sometime we took a tuk tuk back, but thats because it was 2am in the morning and drunk ladyboys and heels don't mix.
Its in a little side soi area, there might be street parking but I don't know. There was no garage."Snick, You Sperm Too Much" - Anon

Hey.... check out the homepage of the Baipho.... that sure looks like a ladyboy to me as part of those dissolving pics in the center of the page. What say you?
Looks like a nice place too.

I gotta say, after spending a week in the Yorkshire, in two different rooms, I have mixed feelings.
It was reported elsewhere that they have "small, cramped rooms." That must be for the standard room, which I didn't see. The double deluxe was nice and the superior room fantastic. I loved that room, though maybe wouldn't have as much if I had paid the book rate.
The pool and gym are real selling points for me, especially the gym, which is one of the best I've ever seen in its price range (and, in an odd bonus, this past time was filled in the afternoons almost exclusively with hot, fit (!) little Thai GGs).
The cleaning staff are dolls, actively chatting up my LB. But it's the front desk staff that rubbed me the wrong way. Not friendly or remotely exemplary of Thai hospitality. That, combined with the attention-inducing entrance to the place, I don't know if I'd have been comfortable if I was on the hunt. And I really didn't appreciate the "optional" 10% added onto all food and room bills.
So, I walked across the street and checked out the Summer Breeze. Kind of tacky and antiquated when compared to the Yorkshire, with its hand-painted murals, I thought. The standard room was tiny, but the summer summer sweet looked OK. And the staff seemed much more laid-back and friendly.

I was wondering if any one has stayed at the international house. They quoted me a price of 1200bht per night which is real cheap for peak season. I will be in Phuket Dec 17th - Dec 22.
I checked C&N and the rooms that they had left didnt seem that great they were older and in the back. I was pleased that were honest in their email response as to what they have available as I would have hated to get there and been disapointed.
I just made an inquiry to the Biopho but at 2400Bht per night it stretches my budget a little.
This is my first trip to Phuket, I have been to LOS a few times before and stayed at the DIG in BKK and DI in Pats (in fact I will be there again on this trip as well)
I think I would rather spend my limited funds on LBs, beer, scuba, day trips and LBs...did I mention LBs twice, wonder why that is
Any feed back on the international house would be appreciated
Thanks Guys

Good food too (not cheap, but even the Thai Food - try the kapow moo - is good)
Location is fantastic - literally 1.5 minute walk to C&D !No honey, no money!!
