There simply is no bigger higher middle class hotel in Patong with all the services we require.

Just imagine the money that could be made if someone opened a 100-room hotel near bangna road with the same services and rooms as the dynasty Grande in Bangkok? (plus a larger pool, obviously)

The best looking on my own site is the Salathai resort, but it is 15 Kms away from Patong...

This place looks nice but it would be better if it wasn't so far from the beach.

1 minute to C&D & 1.5 minutes to Soi Crocodile? Not a chance. It is 3 to 5 minutes to walk from C&D to Soi Croc, not 30 seconds. I can't be more precise but god knows I have walked it often enough.

The SummerBreeze would be nearly a kilometre to the water, an unbearable walk on those steamy hot Phuket afternoons.

But if the beach isn't on the agenda, then it seems to tick all the boxes.
Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.

oh come on.... 1..2 or 3 minute.. is just short walk from Hotel to the Bars.. and the Beach is just the Bangla Road walking down..
You have to walk straight to Bars and not stop by every Gal you found on the way..
depend how fast you walk but sure not more than 5 minutes to Beach...
Important that from Hotel you can go every where by walking, no need Tuk Tuk or Motorbike.. and for go back with a Lady to Hotel is near too..
The place ( Soi Sansabai have different Hotels) is perfect IMO...

Yes, you are right, it is not so far, but no-one is going to walk from the Summer Breeze to the beach in 3 minutes, I doubt 5 minutes is possible. If you were fit, you may run that fast but when the humidity is 100% & the summer heat is at its oppresive worst, that is a a long hike.

All we need now is for a local to time themselves between hotel & beach. Where is Ivor Biggun when we need him?

The only problem right now is that that massive construction project is going on behind the side sois off Bangla. If you plan to go to the beach all day, no problem. But if you plan to stay beside the hotel pool, or take an afternoon nap, it is like living in an earthquake. I had to leave after 2 days last week.

If you are a light sleeper, ask for a room on the side away from the bar complex next door.

Both have no joiner fees and free wifi, don't know about lb policies

Pentire nailed it. Out of his 3, for you my vote would be Yorkshire. Seems to meet all of your requirements.

I would go for Yorkshire. Really nice, and meets all your requirements for 1000 bath. The gym/sauna/steam/pool is nice. Just ask Whitney

Sorry for the delay. SB to C&D is 200m, beach is 500m. 5-10 minutes walk depending on your pace. I do abot 1km every 10 minutes when I'm walking fast so strolling would be 10 min. I find it difficult to think anyone would consider Soi Sanasabai 'too far' from the beach! Other places t conside close to Bangla are C&N (one of Ernesto's favorites I think) and PS. Expat has a nice pool but probably a bit overpriced for what you get. My choice would be Summer Breeze as I'm not a Y Inn fan- it seems busy enough though.
I couldn't give a shit how long it is until you're next holiday- I live here

Just got back from Phuket, and I'd like to thank everyone for their suggestions -- even though I ignored all of 'em

For this trip I wanted a real hotel (which ruled out The Place to Stay, and Lionchai), pool, good location, etc..
What I found was the Aspery Hotel - and it was great.

Its about two block north of Bangla, a 5 minute walk, 3 minutes for those in a rush. Its also 2 minutes to the Beach. No problems at all with bringing back guests, and the staff seemed to like the LBs. Pool on the roof is very nice.
Best of all, its about 1000 Baht a night thru Agoda,Asia rooms or other sites. Weekly rates are also available.
Its also one of those hotels where everything worked, no troubles checking in/out, WiFi worked, no problems with the room. A large LCD TV and a DVD player are also included.
The hotel gives out towels for those heading to the beach.

                              I'll be back

I also checked out the Yorkshire while I was there, I didn't like the rooms that much - they were very sparse and small, DVD player was an extra rental. But the pool looked great, and the location is very good. Especially for me since the dive shop I use is across the street.

I might stay there for a few days if I am diving, it'll cut down on my 'commute', and then switch hotels to the Aspery.
