The Royal Cottage in Lamai is very nice and inexpensive...stayed there last fall and would love to return...very small place only two floors and very LB friendly...
reaffirming what donnnnnny said , i stayed the montien in chaweng and the marina resort in lamai (among others) and at the koh tao cabanas on koh tao (a must-visit if you're nearby in samui) and i never had a problem at any of them.
the pickings may be small, but so is the crowd. i easily found a couple i dug and had a great time trading off between the two -- and fully intend to return next trip to the LOS.
I didn't have any problems at the Marina Beach Resort (not Marina Villa next door) in Lamai and highly recommend the place.
In Chaweng I also stayed at the Montien and had a slight problem. A ladyboy I brought back told me the security guard told her she could not stay all night and had to pay him 100 baht when leaving (it's possible that the ladyboy now had a good excuse not to stay long time).
I confronted the security guard and told him I paid for a doubli room. I eventually got the hotel (with the help of Mim from Pattaya who booked the room) to refund me the differeence between the double and single rate.
In retrospect I made a huge mistake making the security guard lose face even though there were no consequences for me.
The rooms at the Montien are nice. Just make it crystal clear when checking in that you will be bring guests (which I did which qwas why i was so pissed at security).
Hi.
I'm planning to break up my trip in April with a trip to either Phuket or Koh Samui, I've used the C&N hotel in Phuket before and would definitely go back there, should i decide on Phuket.
On the Koh Samui side of things, i've only been there once as a backpacker 8 years ago and stayed in a shithole.
Can anyone help with the name of a good quality hotel , near the beach, that has a website and sensible prices? i've looked on the net and there's loads of 'ebookers' style sites trying to charge about 3000THB per night for a single room
I'd much rather go to the hotels website and book direct thru them and get a better rate.
Any help would be brlliant.
When I go to Samui I aways stay at the Lamai Wanta, in Lamai. Lovely place with WiFi in rooms and the best resturant in Lamai. Also its right on the beach.
I prefere Lamai because its away from the tourist hordes and has plenty going on GG and LB. Plus Chewang is only a hop away if you want the in your face night out.
