Just came back from a 6 days´stay at Areca Lodge.
          Highly recommendable.
          Nice staff and absolute friendly.
If you take more than 1 visitor at a time, they charge you 300 bht. pr person (fair enough).
I took a superior room. Absolutely worth the money.

Stayed at Areca lodge for 10 nights earlier this month. Great hotel, very friendly staff and reasonable rates 1300thb for superior room. However MAJOR downside is the fact that there is major construction going on behind and to the side of the hotel. Work started at 6am and went on until approx 10pm seven days a week. Sometimes the whole building shaking as the drive concrete piles for a new hotel or apartment complex. This was mostly drowned out in the room by the noisy A/c, but by the pool it was annoying. This work will not be complete for at least a year or so. Also there is no pavement on Soi Diana which is very busy so watch out for the traffic! It is quite dangerous to walk along.

Thanks, i was also thinking of booking there, now i know i won't. Construction noise, at 6am is one of the worst things during someone's holiday.

Book a deluxe room facing the pool at the FRONT of the hotel and well away from the superior rooms situated at the back
The Areca is an excellent place to stay and has the BEST BACON for breakie

                        Half right there David.

Yes, you are spot on about the Areca.....excellent digs.

But, unequivocally the best bacon in Pattaya is found at Palmers Restaurant, Soi Pattayaland 2, next to the shith hole which is The Penthouse Hotel.

Used to always stay at Areca but now prefer to stay in the newer wing of Sabai Lodge down near Big C. It's about the same price but I prefer the rooms and their 3 or 4 pools. The Areca rooms start to feel about cheap after a while.

You obviously haven't stayed any of the truly cheap hotels in pattaya....

And you are sounding a wee pretentious may i suggest

Don't mean to - as I said, Sabai is THE SAME PRICE as Areca, but I think the rooms and facilities are better value for money. Just my opinion, thats all.
Not like I said I only stay at the Marriott
