  • Sunshine Hotel & Residences

It's about noon on Monday, June 5. I just arrived in Pattaya at the Sunshine Hotel. I had confirmed reservations for a Deluxe seaview room. They emailed me yesterday with an apology that the Deluxe seaviews were booked but they could give me a Superior seaview for less money if I wanted. Of course I said ok, as I was leaving the next day. When I just arrived they said, "Sorry the Superior seaviews are fully booked; we can give you a standard room". Fuck! what good is a reservation? I just thought I'd pass this experience on. You guys who have reservations may want to re-confirm.
Well I'm going to try to not let it get me down. The Standard room is small, but it does have a Sea view. It also smells bad, but I can buy air freshener.
Anybody in the area want to meet for a beer? PM me.

    BottomFeeder,

If you get this before your leave do ask the folk who run this fine hotel if your friends that suggested you stayed here will get the same treatment as you got. Oh really because I can tell them that their rooms may change depending on who pays more....

When a hotel accepts a booking at a particular rate and date that means it is confirmed.

Pity you did not have a back up plan because when the bullshit starts always walk out, because it generally continues if you don't. Number 1 rule when travelling in Thailand. Smile and try to negotiate, if not successful walk................

I have never had a problem at this hotel & I cannot believe they are struggling for rooms in the low season. Are you just trying to stay in the Sunshine part or are you prepared to stay in the Residence tower part, I am just amamzed they are so well booked in the low season!

You pays your money & takes your chance. This isn't a rehearsal do it now, it's no good looking back when it's a lover & wishing.... ITS TOO LATE.

Yes, you're right. If I had a back up plan, I would have just said screw you and left. I haven't blown my cool yet, and am in the negotiation phase. I am on their "cancellation" list supposedly. I'm willing to grease the wheels a bit, but I'm not sure who is the right person to approach. Residence, or tower? I just want a big nice room with a sea view.  Money isn't a problem. Quality of life is important.
Hey! Maybe I shouldn't have said Billy69 sent me!

If money is not important, what are you doing staying at the Sunshine? It's OK, but hardly top of the range.

Same here - booked Flipper before I've heard about Sunshine and I will keep it as a backup too, cause Sunshine is quite slow with replying mails. They didn't even bother to send a confirmation for my reservation yet.

Well, yes of course, every room hotel in Pattaya is not fully booked. Just the ones I am looking at. I wanted a "nice" room near/on beach road with a great sea view. The standard room at the Sunshine was actually not bad, but I hated the fact that they screwed me over my reservations. I stayed there 1 nite and moved to a great little place right on Beach Rd called BaBooNa service apts.  Its a small boutique type place between soi 3 and soi 4.  I think they said they had 80 rooms (or was it 40?) The 4th, 5th, and 6th floors have dynamic beach front views. The beach is spitting distance from my balcony.  Maybe a bit to far down for some folks, but it's a 10 baht ride to walking st. (actually the baht buses try to charge farangs 20 bht)
It has a nice little restaurant. And the manager said I could bring anyone or anything to my room ( no joiner fee). No pool, but I just stroll down the rd and use Flipper Lodge's pool.
If anyone is interested, their phone # is 0 3848 8720-2. Also no internet in rm, but a great little internet place around the corner on soi 4.

BF, If your staying on the 4th,5th or 6th the internet rate is 1400. Appears your on the mark with your rate. Lower floors and standard rooms range from 1000-1200 baht. Good to see you found a serviced apartment, I prefer them to big hotels with tourists and families. They have a monthy rate as well for 25,000 to 30,000 baht.

Have you found your namesake yet?

I don't know why they call them serviced apts. Mine is just a hotel type room, but a nice one. Possibly the ones in back are apts, but I'm happy right on the beachfront.
