Hotels in Pattaya

I shall be visiting Pattaya next month for the first time. Could any BM recommend a hotel that is reasonably central where coming and going is not a problem and preferably with an in-room safe? While you are at it, which are the best bars to visit, and where do BMs hang out? Thanks in anticipation.
