  • Need accomodation at Xmas/New Year in Pattaya?

If you are thinking of spending the holiday season in Pattaya then get those rooms booked and sorted NOW!

Kim (the owner of The Pattaya Bay Resort) tells me that he is already over 80% committed and that he's always happy to set aside some rooms for regular visitors of this forum...

I imagine that most hotels will be in a similar situation too, so even if you can't get into the PBR then start looking for empty places soon!

Good luck and hope to see you at Xmas and New Year!

I know many guys reconsidering their Christmas bookings due to the financial woes and wouldn't be surprised if come December a lot of people won't be going or will be economizing on their trip.

Looking forward to my pattaya stay over xmas and new year. Booked in PBR standard room. I agree that many guys will reconsider going due to economic woes. I was the same. My travel agent told me to pay now because airlines putting up fares/ fuel charges by silly money. I think this coming high season will be more like a low low season. Talking to people in pattaya they dont have high hopes for xmas season.
We've got to get in to get out

I am just off the phone to a business colleague & his business is down by 70% from this time last year & he holds little hope for an increase in tourism any time soon.

I am not sure where all the people are going to come from to fill the hotels. Certainly not the traditional markets.
Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.

The good hotels will always be busy as will the smarter ladyboys.

The 'low season' is for those with low expectations.

My friend did go onto say that the only tourists whose numbers are increasing are the Arabs, the Chinese & the Indians.

Yes, they will have to stay somewhere but they are not exactly the target market for Nana or any of the other nightlife spots.

We will have to wait & see just how quiet high season will be, but don't get your hopes up.

Those people are the only ones with money for now! But even their numbers won't make up for the loss in Western tourists who are beset with economic problems. The slowdown is affecting even them too - actually with both the Chinese and Indian major stock indices down over 50% for the year I wouldn't be shocked if a lot of would-be tourists are going to be cancelling their trips shortly too!

Everything is set for high season this time!

Flight prices from Germany are going up in December. I pay about 950 Euros for TG. And I seem to be lucky to have booked early. Some other guys are desperately looking for a seat from mid Dec until mid Jan. Everything seems to be sold out, at least the tickets you can afford.

And I have already booked a room in PBR.

So I am really looking forward towards my 1st Christmas in LOS.

That's true - ticket prices are crazy. I've been checking out United and if you want to leave any day within 4 days of X-mas (either before or after) and get back shortly after New Year's you can't find a seat for less than $2k USD! Most other airlines are charging $1,400 to $1,700 still which is very outrageous. And to top it off, some airlines will charge you more money to check your bags! With sky-high airfares like that I'm sure a few guys are going to be rethinking their holiday plans.
