(katoeylover @ Jun. 09 2008,17:11) Which is the best of the LK Hotels, Renaissance, Metropole or Mansion?
I usually stay at LK Metropole, but switched to Renaissance during my May trip.

The hotel is fairly new, I think it opened in November 2007, but still it looks a bit worn down inside esp. since they try to give you the impression this is a "high-class" hotel.  I stayed in two different rooms and both rooms I saw ants and different bugs which of course should never happen.  The room I had on the 7th floor also had problems with the jacuzzi and there was some kind of water leak.  My room on the third floor was close to the elevator and everytime it was in use it made some stupid bell noise that I could hear inside my room.  Very annoying when I usually sleep at least until noon.  The lift was also extremely slow to be in a modern hotel.

So to the good part... The 40% discount makes the price quite good IMO, I payed 1700 - 2100 B for my rooms and they claimed it was including breakfast but I never was up early enough to check it out.  The staff is very friendly and helpful.  They collect the id cards from the girls when you bring them to your room, but if you do not want it's not a problem.  As other have mentioned there are no joiners fees, and I also brought 2 girls to my room and the did not pay anything extra.  The internet in room is free, but there is no wifi so you have to use a cable unless you bring your own router.  The swimming pool on the 3rd floor looks good, but I never tried it.  Several of the girls I brought home were impresed by the hotel.

I will stay at this hotel during low season but as long as I can get good deals in other hotels at high season I doubt I will pat 3-4000 a night at LK R.

Will probably be back for about 10 days in late August.

(Stewart @ Jun. 09 2008,17:50) I am confused. I though the LK Metropole was just opposite Areca, 100 m further towards 3rd road??
As I recall, the LK Renaissance is on Soi Diana/Soi 13...on the opposite side of the Soi from the Areca and a bit closer to Second Road...

        Stop stop- you're both right!

Don't confuse Metropole (Soi Diana towards Beuakow end) and Rennaisance (across from Orn Bar complex). Both high end, high priced.

SamplerD- what is that 700 baht place you mentioned?

FYI- MANY inexpensive places on soi LK Metro, that little "l" shaped street connecting Diana and Beaukow. Also, Nikom on corner Diana/Beaukow. Prices range 500-700 baht/night for very decent rooms.

I had a great time at the LK in May and my room was spotless.

The front desk takes the LB/GG's ID Cards and keeps them for as long as the LB/GG is in the hotel - If the LB/GG is Laotian or Cambodian or any non -Thai then they keep the passport for the same period.

No extra charges for one or two guests at a time - as my report states a tip to the chambermaid and I had constant clean sheeets and towels, changed as many times per day as I required.

Free Internet & it is fast.

Watch out for the New Orn Choir!
